** Edit ** I don't know what's been going on this summer, but the Kaubamaja location has been having problems. They seem understaffed and the wait time for lunch has been over an hour 2X in the past month. The food quality is also really inconsistent and they raised their prices (which is common everywhere, but coupled with the inconsistencies makes me less happy to pay so much). I know they just opened in Lõunakeskus, but maybe they need to concentrate on their first location in Tartu as well. **Original** One of my favorite restaurants in Tartu. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced. I love the daily Don bowls lunch special they offer during the week. Especially the tofu and avocado one. The restaurant in general is a great vegan option with the best veggie based ramen I've ever tried. And the sushi is great too. I would be so lost without this place!!! Please never close!!

Tokumaru is the kind of sushi spot that makes you remember why you fell in love with food in the first place. It’s fast, no-nonsense, and unapologetically good. This isn’t about delicate plating or pretentious omakase experiences. It’s about fresh fish and good seasoned rice. Tokumaru isn’t here to impress you with gimmicks; it’s here to feed you well and send you on your way. It’s the essence of what a great sushi place should be – straightforward, honest, and damn satisfying. If you’re looking for a quick, unpretentious sushi fix, Tokumaru’s your place.

Ordered Shoyu-Ramen and Kimuchi-Ramen with chicken gyoza. Shoyu Ramen reminded me of hospital canteen ramen in Japan but by all means it’s not bad ( I have had way worse than this before), its bit pricey but grateful to have something like this in Tartu. Kimuchi-Ramen lacked salt and after adding some, it was ok. Gyoza was kind of strange from a Japanese perspective as we don’t eat deep fried gyoza in Japan, felt more like Southeast Asia style. Interior design is nice and modern so if you crave something like Ramen with a nice atmosphere, I’d say try it.

From the homepage :"The ambassador of good Japanese food, Tokumaru is now open in Tartu, too! At the cosy restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Tartu Kaubamaja department store, you can enjoy your favourite treats on the spot or take home to enjoy later." I could not agree more - freshly made ramen (they make the noodles themselves and you can tell - it's miles ahead of store-bought), sushi and don are all very, very tasty. The only place in Tartu for proper ramen, no-one else gets it even close.

They have a daily lunch offer as well - either a don (rice dish) or ramen with sushi. The daily is half a portion of both that fills quite nicely. At the time of writing it costs around 6 eur.

Attached picture shows a full portion of kimchi ramen with extra noodles; it was excellent and huge and cost 10 euros - which could be considered expensive but as the ramen is handmade and they use very good raw materials is OK in my opinion. Highly...

Ramen is excellent. However, being sarcastically addressed by the waitress just because I had to kindly ask twice to have my table cleaned after having waited 10+minutes (I couldn't put my arms on the table and all the other tables had been cleaned except mine) shouldn't be part of the way customers expect to be addressed, if they have asked the waiters nicely. I don't mind asking twice for something, if the place is crowded, but I mind sarcastic meanness. I hope your waiter will adjust her attitude towards foreign customers and that I won't have to go through that again in my future lunch meals at your restaurant, which in all other regards...
