We were quite satisfied with our stay here. The best thing about it is its location. It is on the main pedestrian street close to the Town Hall Square. Many sights such as St. John's Church, Tartu University, the University Botanical Gardens are very close also as are many restaurants and bars. The modern lobby looks good with a pool and lots of (probably artificial but very aesthetic anyway) vegetation and comfortable seating. I had no trouble with the WiFi - it worked well. The room was fine with a comfortable bed and an enclosed shower cubicle (no water gets on the bathroom floor outside of it. The breakfast is excellent except that the mushrooms and the cooked vegetables were terribly salty (both days so it wasn't an accident). There is a great dense seeded dark bread, croissants, good porridge with a nice selection of add ins, kefir, oat milk, 3 types of fish, oranges, grapes and kiwis, fruit salad, even prosecco and two flavors of ice cream. We had dinner there once and the food was also good. The focaccia that they give you (I don't think there was a charge for it) was probably the best I've ever had (though if you don't like garlic you're not going...
Read moreI booked one night in this hotel, stopping in Tartu just for the day. I arrived rather early and was hoping to just drop off my bag but I was lucky enough that my room was ready so I moved right in.
The lobby is beautiful and modern but the rooms are dated. Don't get me wrong, my room was comfortable and quite big, right underneath the roof, but the decor was obviously not new and the soundproofing was almost non-existant (there was a soccer team of pre-teen boys who obviously didn't care if they woke up everyone or not, and it was like they were right there in the room with me).
During my stay, the breakfast room was being renovated so breakfast was served on the ground floor (I think it's usually the restaurant but I'm not sure). It was a buffet style breakfast with everyone I might want for a good start of the day.
If I'm every in Tartu again, I'd...
Read moreIt's a party hotel, we stayed on a Friday-Sat night and our room was badly sounproofed.
It's situated on the main party / bar street of Tarto and people were making noise in the rooms at pre-parties, the bass of the nearby clubs was pounding throughout the night and the other guest were making a racket when they returned from the clubs at their rooms on a afterparties. I have nothing against parties but every little sound came through to our room and I couldn't sleep even with earplugs on. The a/c was also broken - tried to put up the heat but the ventilator didn't start blowing warm air.
I gave this feedback on the reception but they just said they were sorry and weren't offering anything for compensation. A place to go IF you wanna party and not sleep. Otherwise I'd recommed...
