Last week we decided to have dinner at Vaga Mama Viljandi because the restaurant had got quite good reviews everywhere. That was a mistake. First of all, I feel sorry for everyone who thinks this place serves real Nepalese food. It's not even close to Nepalese food. If you think it's good food, you've missed out a lot.
The waiter didn't greet us, she barely talked to us. Maybe because we were speaking English or maybe she's just a shy person but she used less than five words during our visit to the restaurant. She didn't say anything when she brought our food. Plus it was super slow. So I would say, considering the level of service in Estonia, in this place it was just bad.
The food, oh boy. I ordered Nepalese food, Masala chicken or whatever it was called. It was brought on a metal tray, with a spoon. Am I a child and I need a spoon to eat? This still makes me wonder. The Naan bread has never seen a Naan bread because it wasn't even close. It was more like a tortilla bread. Basically the only edible thing on the tray was the plain, boiled rice and the salad. The sauce with chicken was supposed to be spicy (level 2) but it didn't have any spiciness or probably no spices at all in it. The sauce actually tasted like something that came out of those Knorr 'add only chicken' -oriental sauce jars. The chicken was probably the worst meat I had ever seen or tasted. Full of skin and tendons. I ate like one bite and couldn't eat more. The meal was finished with sour cream which is normally not the case with Nepalese food.
I really recommend, take your money elsewhere. This place doesn't deserve it...
Read moreExtremely BAD service. The waitress, beside just being rude, doesn’t know what she’s serving, and totally unaware of the menu at all. You actually have to explain her even the basics of how to serve the food. For example, we ordered couple of sauces with steamed rice and prawns for starter. She brought us sauces alone and for the next 10 minutes they were just standing on our table getting cold. No rice or starter was serve. When I approached her and asked where is rice or starter, she replied that they have issues on the kitchen getting everything ready in time. I asked her why did she bring us the sauce then without waiting for the rice getting ready? Didn’t give me any reply and just asked what I want her to do. It’s just pure nonsense. So, when we finally got rice and starter our main sauces were already cold.
In this place their main problem is the service, when waitresses don’t get even basic training. Looks like they didn’t even understand, why starter is called starter and when should it be served
Food was not good either. Level of spiciness does not match what they claim in...
Read moreI ordered a soup which claimed to have fresh veggies, noodles and different meats. Instead i got a bowl of broth and FROZEN vegetables (carrot, broccoli, cauliflower). The meat in it was chewy and looked like it was from leftovers a few days back. We also ordered nepalese, it was spicy but it didn't taste authentic at all. The service was lousy and the waitress got our orders wrong multiple times and forgot items. Would...
