Húsagarður — Restaurant in Tórshavn

This is the place to go for great fine dining in the Faroe Islands!

The restaurant is part of one of the most luxurious hotels in the Faroe Islands, so expectations were a bit on the high side before we went. The atmosphere, food, wine selection and especially the service were just amazing, so our expectations might not have been high enough.

The dishes were carefully thought out, the ingredients were quite fresh, and the presentation was great. Our waiter, Michael Olsson, was super attentive and his wine recommendations were superb. His perspective on his work was quite commendable. He describes himself as a 'bartender'. This is a guy who has won global cocktail competitions, yet he is the type of guy who does not glorify his trade. He put it quite simply, "I'm a bartender. There is no shame in that." He lets his work do the talking, and we were quite impressed by the quality of it.

This was our first meal in the Faroe Islands, and we're very happy we chose this place. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Brandan hotel, and has a very romantic and friendly atmosphere.

Our servers Jógvan Jón, Sevi, and Silja were superstars! They made us feel like family, by being so friendly, attentive, and very professional. Their recommendations were also awesome, and couldn't have asked for better people to take care of us.

The food was really good, but extremely expensive (as for everything on this island) and a bit too over salty to our taste. That being said, the presentation and attention to details was of a Michelin Star quality! The amuse bouche smoked salmon was really good!
