The atmosphere, music and service was excellent.
I ordered the mussels and was left a little disappointed with 9-10 of them staying shut or not opening enough to easily open, thus not being 100% safe to eat as everyone knows who eats sea food regularly. I complained and the waiter/manager was quick to offer me a beverage etc as compensation, which was great and not always a given in Finland. What I found unnecessary was to mention that only 3 were fully shut (I knew this) while bringing me the complementary beer. The mussels themselves were a 7/10 with the broth being the clear star of the dish as I suspect the mussels to be from the freezer. Not unusual in Finland of course but the dryness gave away the quality. The fries were one of the best I have had in Helsinki and the aioli was light and delightful as well.
I powered the rest of the night with whisky sours. I can vouch that this is 100% the whisky sour you would want someone to have as their first ever. I have tried many in Helsinki and I am yet to decide which more mainstream place takes the win on this. Tanner or Grotesk are clearly in the lead.
Overall I can highly recommend this restaurant for a dinner with friends purely for the service and atmosphere. Recommend to order the pizza instead of the...
Read moreAt first, I must say that I was disappointed, that the staff did not wear masks, they did not have some tables left without seating, so physical distancing was hard. They did have hand sanitizers atleast.
We had big breakfast plates, one vegetarian and one with meat. 18€ a plate, but there is a lot of things so it kept us full like a brunch. Plus for the fresh orange juice, just hoped the glass to be bigger.❤️
Scrambled tofu was too salty said my friend, who is a chef too. We both liked the pesto that came with the vegetarian platter. I liked the bread and everything else, but the milk based yoghurt with the jam that came in it, was just way too sweet for me, I could not eat it, next time try to have the jam on a seperate plate or just a berry puree instead of a sweet jam.
Everything else was nice and fresh. I hoped they washed the raspberries before serving.
You can choose to have a coffee or from ~3 types of teas as a hot drink.
Nice atmosphere, cool interior and chill...
Read moreYou come 14.30 and hear that they serve only ’lunch’ menu till 15.00. You decide to buy glass of wine for 14 euros to wait for the food you want, to have it at 16.00. At 16.05 they will say ’sorry we serve food after 17.00. It could be better to know this at 14.30 for a chance to go anywhere else.
Edit: they ignored previous problem, but luckily people can get to know more issues If you will take a breakfast in an empty place - it can end up as a 45 minute wait of waffles WITHOUT staff apologizing for the fact that food was actually standing in the kitchen 20 minutes (read: it is COLD)
Edit 2020: still no attention to issues. Breakfast don't have option that most people in queue came for. Staff don't care and never did. I would not recommend waiting for this place to disappear, as restaurant scene in Helsinki and Kallio at the moment is too good to keep...
