We visited Kabuki on a Satuday afternoon. I recommend to make a reservation in advance as the restaurant doesn't have too many tables. Also, keep in mind that if you want to sit at the Japanese style tables, you will need to take off your shoes. We ordered the Daruma special II meal which includes: sashimi, wakame salad, miso soup, and sukiyaki. Three different types of fish were served as sashimi. While the salmon was very fresh, the tuna and the white fish were slightly drier but good. The wakame salad seemed to be prepared on site as it taste crunchier and less sweet that the one that is sold as ready-made. The miso soup was nicely seasoned with fresh pieces of green onion and some soft tofu. The sukiyaki was prepared at our table by the waitress who nicely explained the proper way of enjoying eat. Although the sukiyaki did not have tofu or enoki mushrooms it was still sweet and very enjoyable; perfect for a winter afternoon dinner. My only complain would be that it was a bit cold inside the restaurant. In brief: Kabuki provides authentic Japanese food beyond sushi in a original place with...
Read moreA bit pricey, but oh, so worth it. I got in with my friend by pure luck - someone had cancelled their reservation when we came by to ask for a table. Since it's unlikely I'll get to visit again anytime soon, I had to try the whole course from appetizers to desserts. The meal cost me 48€ or so with plain water as my drink. My friend ordered hot sake as well, and I think I saw glasses of wine in other tables.
The food was good, although a bit exotic for someone who was eating Japanese for the first time (not including plain miso soup and sushi). The ice cream we got for dessert were flavoured "red bean" and "green tea" - surprisingly the bean one was closer to typical sweet ice creams while the tea-flavored had an adult taste to it. I loved it though.
Kabuki has an authentic feel to it, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The people stayed in their tables for a very long time,...

I ordered tempura set. It came out nicely presented, but some pieces were so oily, and had no flavor. The portion only came with three shrimps, one piece of squid, one piece of eggplant, one super oily kakiage (mixed veggies tempura) and one slice of onion (not my favorite), and I was charged for 20€. Overall it was really underwhelming.
My friends ordered the “today special” Gyudon, and trust me, that dish in the picture is not how Gyudon looks and tastes. The beef were really chewy, had bones in it, and the sauce were too salty. Not authentic at all.
The most infuriating thing was my friend’s yakitori (no picture unfortunately). Her yakitori dish was two TINY sticks of chicken, sad and dry!
In the end we left the restaurant with half-full stomachs. Not...
