I have visited this restaurant now five to six times and among all of them I found my favorite, curry ramen on my second visit. I dont ever settle for one kind of food but I always take the curry ramen from that point on because it won my heart immediately. Something I never experienced before.
The place is really small but I have been lucky to mostly eat there during quiet moments. Either way the food will have your attention from all the chatter, and in a way it all just coalesces into an atmospheric quality experience with the staff, food, decor and the other diners. Something you want to just breath in and savour, rare for a place in finland.
The authenticity of the food is true and it was always just as delicious and same quality you expect. Of course most finnish ingredients, as it should be. Noodles are good authentic style ramen noodles that are very easy to eat. I saw reviews which said the noodles are cheap or bad, and that the broth isn't great, not true. I've had chats with the owners and the amount of love and research they make for their recipes, and the fact that they carefully plan the food and recipes before it is on the menu, even if its a simple food, is evident. That is simply amazing dedication.
As others have mentioned, the service is impeccable and the owners are great. I feel so welcome every...

First ramen place I've been to that didn't serve Ajitsuke tamago but just plain eggs. I would also have liked to know what the soup was made out of. Was it a tonkotsu chintan? A regular tokyo style paitan would have been a nice alternative instead of the dark soy version of the clear broth which brought nothing additional to the already short menu except a sweeter soy.
Giving 4 stars since this is one of the best places I've been to in Europe (where ramen places are rare and usually terrible), but it...
Read moreIn many ways, the presence of Pure Maku in a city the size of Oulu is an anomaly. It's as if a Ramen stand outside an urban Japanese train station was magically teleported and expanded here. The singular genuineness of ingredients, preparation, and traditionally warm rural Japanese hospitality that Pure Maku spins together for its customers, makes it a very pleasant shock amid Oulu's restaurant scene.
Don't be put off by their lack of alcoholic drinks offering or limited opening hours. Pure Maku isn't just a culinary experience you shouldn't miss. It's very reasonable pricing also makes it restaurant to frequent, as this...
