This shop single-handedly ruined my family’s experience in Marseille. The employees that work here blatantly discriminate against Americans and went out of their way to make my family and I feel unwelcomed. As we were dining outside of their location, a woman employee walked up behind my family and bad-mouthed our “disgusting” nature. She obviously didn’t realize that my group contained two bilingual members that understood everything she was saying (including a Royal Caribbean advisor). It was clear, this woman wanted us out of the shop and out of Marseille; we weren’t welcomed there!
It’s disappointing because we had just purchased and eaten some of their gelato (we made it aware that we were paying customers when we sat down at one of their tables). The woman proceeded to go behind the counter and complain about her distain for our family’s presence outside of their shop. Less than five minutes later, this woman and her male co-worker started loudly screaming and clapping at us like we were stray dogs! It was absolutely EMBARRASSING to experience as a customer! These employees publicly shamed us and told us to shut our mouths because we were being “too loud” in a square filled with hundreds of people. It was so startling that everyone in the surrounding area stopped walking, backed up from the shop, went silent and stared at us in disbelief as we were now some sort of pariah in the area. My family was mortified as the employees started shooing us out of their facility in pure discontent.
Let me be clear, this was disgusting behavior from the staff here. I don’t care what part of the world someone comes from, you don’t ever disrespect them the way that they disrespected us. If they had a problem with our presence, then they could have simply come up to us and addressed the issue in private rather than making it a public spectacle. My family and I left the location feeling hurt and personally attacked, while the cruise advisor now reconsiders the hospitality of this location. I hate having to write all of this because I really wanted to say that I enjoyed Marseille. However, this experience made us and other tourists in our group scared to return to the area due to cultural differences. We won’t be visiting this location again. I hope the employees here learn to treat others with respect in the future. There’s always room for love and peaceful solutions, not hate and...
Read moreTruly the most incredible gelato I have ever had. I went back multiple times throughout my stay in Aix and tried many flavors, every one being so wonderful and perfectly crafted. My favorite was the Cremino but the Nocciola Piu and the Pistachio were close seconds. I am very particular about my ice cream cones and these were the perfect accompaniment, not too sweet nor too bland and a great texture. The staff are passionate about gelato and it really is expressed in the entire experience here. If you’re in Aix, your trip would not be complete without a visit...
Read moreBe careful as a tourist. The man working pointed the card reader downward when I tapped my credit card to the point where I couldn’t see the amount. I’ve never seen that before so I thought it was strange. I decided to check my bank account and they charged me 16.5 euros for two ice creams that should be 10.5 euros. Doesn’t break the bank but it’s distasteful how purposeful the over charge was. When I confronted them they immediately gave me cash back and said “my mistake” with no hesitation because it was done on purpose. Also average...
