To be prominent, the service was friendly enough. However, the ingredients are obviously not fresh (including vegetables, fruit, meat & fish)! The food quality was concerning, it might not get you sick immediately, but healthy ingredients matter, right? Customers have different standards and preferences about food quality and flavor, this is true. If you are in town for a vacation, to be honest, there are other restaurants to bring you better experience. If you are local and curious about it…it depends on you. Some customers think service comes first, some think the food quality is the baseline. Fresh beef makes good steak…just notice the restaurant would explain to the customers who do not give a five start comment…we happen to find out that even there are not many bad reviews here, what they said were true in my case…we wish we looked at the reviews before we tried the food. They are not fresh, the cooking is relatively under average…of course, sometimes we like to try different restaurants…why not? On the other hand, the owner’s review accuses us: why you do not come to discuss with us and choose to leave a review? Well, it is a map and we want share with other customers and simply describe the experience we had, that is a good thing for people who are new in town, really no need to attack us personally and blame people want high-quality food…Restaurants have different orientations, for instance, some restaurants use cheaper ingredients and control the cost, other restaurants only serve food that they buy each morning but small portion, all possible. In common sense, customers aren’t very interested in discussing with restaurant owners about how to run a restaurant. The experience is already there, listening to different excuses cannot make the food/experience...
Read moreWe had another wonderful meal at the family owned restaurant, @Phatsara - Saveurs de Thailande in Aix. Chef Jira is Thai, her husband Ben and daughter Ilona run the front of the house. Talk to them about how spicy you'd like it, or not at all. They will adjust the spice level to your request. On our most recent visit, we asked Chef Jira in advance to surprise us and cook for us and she did. The food was delicious, with so many layers of flavour! The appetizer was a giant freshwater prawn salad with litchi & lemongrass: San Wa Kung. Main course was tender steak with a red curry, peanut and house roasted coconut sauce: Panang Nuea. I'm not sure if you would need to special order these in advance or if they are on the menu. Everything is homemade. We also had a lovely bottle of La Porte sauvignon blanc. Ilona has a strong interest in wine...They also have local Chateau Beaupré on the menu as well as local and Thai beer. Good for families, couples or friends, inside and outside dining, everyone is very friendly. Just near the corner of Sextius and Cordelier on...
Read moreStaying in Aix for three weeks, we were craving Thai. Three were nearby - one we were told was a chain , one ended up being closed and nearby we found Phatsara. It also had good reviews. We were greeted by an extremely friendly man who seated us. The place steadily filled up as the evening went on & he had several carry out orders. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer to share & he told us it came with 3 pieces. We said it’s ok we will split the last one - when it arrived they’d given us 4. We kept our orders simple not knowing if it would be close to what we are used to in the states. Chicken fried rice, I asked to add Thai basil and he did -no problem. The other dish was their pad Thai and both were delicious! I’d highly recommend this sweet little place . They couldn’t be nicer , great food , clean restaurant , good prices and...
