I highly recommend this tour. My husband and I had an amazing half day with Mathilde, and it was our favorite memory in Aix. Even if you aren't into cooking (such as my husband), there is something in this experience for everyone: she gives a wonderful overview of the history of Aix, explains the culture of the markets, and then submerges you in the culture. We tasted all kinds of different local goods from the vendors while she taught us what to look for and where everything is produced. Then, we went back to her cooking Atelier and prepared our delicious 3 course meal. She made what seems like an overwhelming recipe seem easy (even my husband could do it!) and gave us great cooking tips such as creating flavor. Now, I can't wait to host a Provencal dinner party at home! An added bonus is we had a great conversation like old friends, coffee and rose'. This is the quintessential travel/submerging in another...
Read moreAbsolutely delightful Five stars to Tastes of Provence!!! We were lucky enough to have both Jennifer and Erin as our tour guides and it was such a treat!! They gave us the best food and history tour that we could imagine while spending time in Aix en Provence. They started us off with a wonderful history tour followed by wonderful samples of pastries, fruit, coffee, cheeses, olives, and wine. Both Jennifer and Erin are well loved in their community. Each vendor was so excited to see them and to share their wares. The ladies took their time to share intimate stories of the past, the present and the future. Kelli and I had a wonderful time. We look forward to our next trip and spending even more time with the two of them. I can’t recommend the two “American Frenchies” enough from Tastes of Provence for the food and history tours. Definitely a highlight of our trip. They will capture your heart as well as the...
Read moreMathilde greeted us in an easy-to-locate rendezvous point and began with a brief summary of Provence history—quite interesting! I found her to be very easy to listen to (her English is excellent), and she has such a warm personality. She knew the local farmers market sales people and we learned how to distinguish the best, freshest and most local products. But the best of all was the cooking class itself. There were only four of us and we each had the opportunity to get hands on training in how to make fresh pasta, prepare a fish main course, a vegetable dish and an amazing dessert. We left with recipes and since I took good notes, I’m looking forward to trying all these dishes on my family when I return home. Mathilde’s class was one of the highlights of our stay in Provence. If you get the opportunity, you should jump at the chance to...
