It would be so nice if this delivered on its promise. Having a healthy option is very useful when most places in town deal in fondue, raclette, tartiflette, meat, or galettes.
The salads were pretty good, but the coffee was underwhelming.
The service is slow and not customer-focused. It seems more like a hobby / project for whoever owns / manages it than an actual cafe.
We ate there once and gave up on another occasion, due to the slow-moving queue. On a further attempt, the staff refused to remove a sandwich ingredient (aioli), unless it was an allergy-related request. We gave up and didn't return. If the food is made fresh to order (as it apparently is) and what's being asked for is a removal only (not a substitution), this seems unnecessarily stubborn. It's also inconsistent with what we were told on the first visit about removals being acceptable.
Given the counter service and the request to clear tables after eating, the suggested tips (10%/15% etc) at the card terminal are bizarre. If you want to adopt American tipping culture (not a good idea in my view), you have to match it with American service. Artic Café falls far...
Read moreWe came two adults one toddler for a hot drink. Service was awful. €16 for two coffees and a kids hot chocolate in a small take away cup even though we were eating in. When I asked how did that come to €16 - it was €5 for the kids hot chocolate and she said “that’s Val d’Isere so too bad!!!” When my son started to cry they turned up the music super loud to drown him out which made him more upset.
The man on the cashier didn’t understand English and needed a co-worker to show him how to use the machine. It’s not like this place is a fancy place on the slopes with a view of the mountains and therefore the extra cost. Just on the main road no view, nothing special. Just a like a little cafe. Overall very bad attitude and bad service. I would...
Read moreUnfortunately, the coffee is appalling, which is a shame for what looks like one of the only dedicated coffee stops in the resort.
I’ve tried the coffee on three separate occasions, each time hoping the bad experience was a temporary problem. But the coffee itself is bad tasting, highly acidic and without any redeeming flavour. The milk quality is not awful but it isn’t what you’d expect when paying twice what you’d pay elsewhere for a coffee.
I tried one juice and it was decent although overwhelmingly bitty from the nuts.
Hot chocolate didn’t do much for me and the food was really disappointing, with boiled eggs served cold and not fresh.
Save your money and get an espresso...
