We booked this restaurant to celebrate the Christmas Eve, hoping for a nice luxury experience (as it is marketed as such), but we’re faced with a disappointment. We were appalled by the lack of professionalism, training, and manners from the staff, even though at first we tried to look past it as we are not usually picky people. The waiter was clumsy and erratic, and spilled a whole glass of wine when clearing the table, and, though apologized, he did not provide a replacement or offer anything in compensation. When he brought us the bill where the meat that we ordered (that is costed by 100g) was stated as almost double the weight that we actually had. Luckily one of us took a photo with the weight of the meat (the chef recommended we do it, which was very much appreciated). We asked to change it and after some confusion he did, but again there was no mention of the spilled glass of wine. We then asked to speak to the manager, after which the waiter himself came back to us with a new bill and said ‘I don’t know what you want, we gave you a 10% discount, does that work?’ as if he was having a go at us for complaining. That discount wasn’t applied to any previous bills that we saw. We explained to him that there should have been a compensation and better treatment of the guests when you spill a whole glass of expensive wine over their table. Oh and also he actually gave us 5% so completely incompetent. Make sure you check your numbers if you go there. It is not a classy place it...
Read moreA new version of French FAULTY TOWERS. We stayed in the hotel with our family for a week. The hotel experience is very good and breakfast excellent. But the restaurant in the evenings !!! I don’t know how to put words even. We been through all the menu hence we ate every night at this Modern FAULTY TOWERS. ( John Cleese) Every evening was a new disastrous experience. Last evening our 4 year old son had to wait 1 1/2 hour for his food. A dish that was in the end not available anymore. Have just one thing to say. Stay away from this restaurant in the evenings unless you want to spend money in vain with big dissatisfaction. I don’t want to bother you with long descriptions but most dishes goes totally wrong or are misunderstood or misinterpreted by chef or waiters. With one exception, fish dishes they manage well. Friday evening I and my older son orders regular burgers ( thought that they can’t fail on this also) 10 minutes later waiter comes back and tell, sorry burgers are out of stock!!! We order entrecôte instead. Not possible to eat my sons meat. At this moment waiter offer a “steak hache“ as a replacement, nice manner from waiter! 30 minutes earlier Hamburgers was out of stock???? How could it...
Read morehave visited a lot of restaurants around the world and a great number in France as well. Many of them very high priced, most medium priced. I must be honest with you; our visit at “Le 80” today, can be summed up to this: Nice touch with the slippers, bread, oil and butter, BUT; the rest was terrible; took a very long time and many requests before we could order, both wine and food, and when food arrived it was missing a lot and only after a few more requests did they arrive. Potatoes came when we were almost done with our meat (and only after many requests) and the meat was dry and tasteless. One of the poorest experiences ever - especially taking pricing and position in Meribel into consideration.
On top of everything, when bringing attention to the mess, the waiter replied: “This is not London” (referring to us being English....)
Ps.: Sommelier was...
