You know when you're having a bad day. An inability to close the door to a restaurant, forgetting what language you should be speaking and throwing an entire cup of what, at second attempt, was an absolutely delicious soup over yourself. Those calamities of my own making were a tiny negative on what turned out to be an excellent meal out. I'm not sure where the negative service reviews came from. My horrors were dealt with in excellent humour and while yes there was little English spoken 'this restaurant is IN FRANCE '. And Google is a wonderful invention. While they didn't have my initial attempt at a starter the recommendation was by far the better choice. A delicious main of lamb shank followed and then comes the absolute delight. On asking the chef what the sphere Helene was I understood it to be a sphere of ice cream and chocolate with pear in the centre. A disappointment for me as I'm not a pear fan which I pointed out and mentioned my love of framboises (raspberries). Unbelievably the chef walked away and returned 5 minutes later with a beautiful perfect white chocolate sphere and jug of hot chocolate. You cannot imagine my absolute joy when, upon pouring the chocolate and the desert melting, there were a load of fresh raspberries sat on top of my ice cream. My only failure was in not getting a picture. Simply superb. I...

Good food, poor service About the service : after being advised a table, sitting for 15 minutes, water served and menu enquiries replied, a different waitress moved us to a less comfortable area "because the tables are booked". The tables could easily have been split into a table the 2 of us and 2 other tables for 4 other people so we believed the "reservation" was for 6 people. 45 minutes later (and a short 15 minutes before we left), a group of 3 people sat right where we were before moving... I hate when people lie to me... no communication among the staff : a trainee said hello twice during our meal and kept asking questions another waitress had already asked. About the food : oysters themselves were good... but what an awkward idea to serve them with grilled bread veal kidneys were nicely cooked... but the assorted potato casserole was brought so late that half of the plate was already eaten... So, yes if you keep focused on the food itself, you can spend an enjoyable moment at this place. As for myself, enjoying a lunch in a restaurant is not only a question of...

I finally realized people who can't speak "perfect" French are not allowed to visit Paris. I was feeling like in the French academy not a French restaurant.

Even though I tried to use French as much as I can from the first, the old woman kept correcting my French pronunciation and spoke "no english" for several times. When my dad put juice in different glass for mistake, she frowned at us rather not giving us new one. She continuously spoke in French and when we couldn't understand her words, she made fun of us and giggled with other "French" customers.

But you old woman, welcome to Asia!(I'm not sure people like you may challenge to visit other continent) You will definitely get better service only if you don't use French in...

Having really great experience with lunch at Le Beaujolais I thought this choice would be even better for the evening. The main waiter or owner was nice and tried to show us the menu in English, but it was not working well so he ended up translating it somehow. I wanted three courses and I got fish tartar as an entry which was too acidic from the lemon inside, then I got beef steak which was large but instead of medium I got rare and the final one was a dessert - something which was finally good. When we were paying and splitting the bill, the waiter had to leave three times so that we could split it and we paid more than we should based on the menu. Overall, I was disappointed.

Disclaimer: I'm a foreigner who was recommended this restaurant by a friend. The wine was excellent although my French friends tell me it's common house wine for a French restaurant. I found all of the food to be well-cooked and tasty. I didn't necessarily care for some of the Portuguese influences on the French classics. The Paris-Brest was drenched in a sticky caramel that was like toffee. Not my preference but I can see how others enjoy it.

We ate at this restaurant multiple times during our stay in Paris. The food was consistently good and well prepared. All the servers were lovely, and helpful. Our favorite was the lady from Portugal. She really made us feel at home in the restaurant. It is a really good local restaurant in Montrouge. Well worth the trip. Don't have too many pictures... Too busy eating!
