During our family vacation in Gordes, we noticed Le Celestin as a potential luncheon choice and I politely asked if there was room for 3 (something one does in France). The waiter showed us to our seats and as I began to ask for the drink menu, the waiter quickly turned rude and told us if we wished for drinks we should leave to a neighboring café. I explained that a meal always begins with drinks. It was then that this waiter's behavior turned crass. He yelled in French at my son for folding the napkin. It was a paper napkin and very easily replaced. Now my husband and I became angry. I said to the waiter (who I was speaking with in French the entire time) if this was his attitude towards clientele we would find a restaurant more interested in our money. DO NOT go to Le Celestin. Your money will be better spent elsewhere. And; to the owner of Le Celestin : our $250 euros were well spent elsewhere and your waiter is doing you a disservice. These "annoying tourists" PAY YOUR SALARY. There are so many other wonderful people and places in Gordes. AVOID Le...
Read moreA really bad experience. We sat down and had to wait quite a while before we could even place our order — the place was full, so that was understandable. We finally ordered a beer and a soft drink, for a total of 7 euros. Unfortunately, at no point were we told that card payments are only accepted for a minimum spend of 15 euros.
Maybe it was written somewhere, but in a crowded place where people are sitting outside and many are tourists, it would be better to clearly state this upfront so customers can plan accordingly.
When it came time to pay, we didn’t have any cash, and the way the situation was handled was incredibly rude and inappropriate. A little communication in advance could have easily avoided an unpleasant moment, and the misunderstanding could have been managed in a much more polite manner — but apparently, rudeness is trendy...
Read moreAgain a great experience Cycling through Gordes we decided to try out this restaurant again, this after our first great experience a couple of years ago Great location in the heart of the village. Apart from a cosy interior this venue also provides a large covered terrace at the front. Because of the nice weather we selected a table on the terrace Welcome and service was friendly....getting more rare these days! From the menu we selected a pork chop and a salmon tartare. The food was very tasteful and served at the right temperature. Definitely a venue we will return to and highly recommended to those after a good culinary experience at great...
