A restaurant with a concept of not always having the same chef, but with residencies throughout the year. This gives a diversity in the menu, which remains worked with fresh and local products. Each chef will bring a new way to interpret these products. It is also possible to be surprised by the accompaniment of wine, which will give you tastes that are not presented in many other places. Surely one to the place of the city to do absolutely without having disappointment if you like to eat and discovery. The price is 45€ for the Menu and 45€ for the wine accompaniment per person. It's still a budget but for a great experience.

Surprised at some of the reviews here because we had an amazing time at Chardon. The space is very small and cute and our waitress was very attentive. We did one vegetarian and one regular tasting and found both to be worth it and we were full. We also added the cheese plate which I highly recommend and the wine pairings. Coming from St, Tropez the price was reasonable for us but yes it is pricier than some other places in Arles, due to the aesthetic of the food. The only odd food to us was the sweet onion as dessert, but maybe we are not used to this as Americans.

We tried this restaurant as we were curious about the concept of invited chef. I found this vegetarian menu not worth the price (32€ for a 3 course lunch menu). The lemon almond confit in the starter zucchini carpaccio was way too acidic that I couldn’t finish… The main dish was a soup which was good with interesting combination of flavors but the bad start still lingers… Service was good, except for one waitress who had a serving style of catwalk model that made us felt a bit ignored

I had asked in advance if Chardon adapts its menus for vegetarians, and they said yes, so we reserved to go. They only replaced meat or fish options with vegetables that were so small, I was still hungry and ate bread nonstop (one small tomato, half a small zucchini). The portions were ridiculously small: one « dish » was literally a single carrot. The ingredients aren’t « noble » and cost nothing, yet we still paid 55€ per person… for a carrot. The dessert is usually my weakness, and this one I left unfinished. It was a strange alcoholic jelly with a cuillère à café sized dollop of yogurt ice cream on top, which took 40 minutes to be served.

This leads to the perhaps main reason not to go. It’s been a while since experiencing such terrible service. It took 2 HOURS and ten minutes to be served one of the main dishes (a carrot). Between each dish was on average a 40 minute wait, for what seemed like tapas that were good but not great. The servers kept taking drinks while running around despite never checking in on tables (the entire room was frustrated and hungry), with no explanation either. Even the owner was hanging out by the kitchen, then by the bar, opening new bottles to drink and not seeming to care about her customers. We even saw a birthday surprise go wrong, when a candle was rushed over to the table minutes after the dessert was already served. There’s no communication or reasoning for such poor service: 4 people in the kitchen and 5 in the salle, plus the owner hanging around. It was a shocking and disappointing experience, which we expressed while checking out and didn’t seem to be understood. Apparently our table among others was one that would be considered an « in between » when dishes came out of the kitchen, and so had to wait so long, but really every single table vocally expressed the same frustration. The staff seemed apologetic, but also it sounded like this was normal.

It feels like money (quite a bit) wasted. 110€ for two « meals » and two glasses of wine per person (we didn’t want to order more budget wise, so consider how it may be hard to spread out two glasses over three hours). Expect 150€ for the night from a renowned chef that didn’t provide the proper experience in terms of timing or quality, given his reputation. Looking at other recent reviews, it seems like others have experienced the same.

I was so excited to go and we both left very disappointed, and should have gone to any other restaurant for our only...

A partager évidemment. On avale notre bouchée. No comment.

Niveau service, on pige rien.

On veut partir, l'addition. 39+39+32 de vin = CENT DIX EUROS. 110€ pour que dale dans le bide. J'ai faim. La mise en bouche la plus...
