Terrasse de Normandie — Restaurant in Bayeux

I have never walked out of a restaurant before because of bad service, until now. I greeted the wait staff in French and asked for table for two. Many hand gestures were made to us so we sat on the patio. A different server asked if we were just drinking, or eating as well. We said both, he said we have to sit inside if we want food. Not sure why, since the inside and dining area is right next to the patio area, but we did, passing other tables that had dinner plates on their tables. We got placemat menus and glasses and then were ignored for ten minutes. The table of six who came in after us were already half done their drinks. I kept making eye contact and smiling at both servers and still nothing. It was very warm inside, we were clearly being ignored (I couldn’t help but get the feeling it was because we weren’t French) so we walked out. Not a great first impression of...

The food was actually very good! We really enjoyed it. It was fresh and hot and served very quickly. The views of the sea were amazing! However, the place needs a little bit of cleaning. The table was sticky... The service was very efficient. The staff - polite but not overly welcoming (cold and no smiles). It is funny because the place have some signs that it is an Irish pub... Irish pubs are all about smiles and being welcomed!! I wasn't sure if any of the staff had any English... I might be wrong but all the staff avoided to say anything to us... or to have any contact with us. We still liked our lunch but there is definitely some room for...

I had a disappointing experience at a restaurant with unfriendly service. When we asked for recommendations or had questions about the menu, they were dismissive and impatient. It was clear that they had no interest in providing a pleasant dining experience. Their attitude and lack of hospitality greatly affected our overall impression of the restaurant.
