What an incredible coincidence, we wanted something to lunch on a sunday and so few options open... there were other restaurants near but I felt that this one might be a good choice, and it was... the typical french restaurant... full of local people eating (always a good sign). We had 40€ menu with appetizer, first, second and dessert... i had the Coquilles first, later a cannard with petit poies and few typical french desert, everything was sensational.

A delicious meal that exceeded my expectations. Perhaps somewhat more expensive than neighboring lunch spots, but worth it. The food was of excellent quality, the service was great and friendly, and the location is especially peaceful on a quiet street with a view of the Cathedral across the river. Definitely worth a splurge. **Update 2021** I’ve been back again twice and its still just as good. One of the best restaurants in Bayonne, for sure.

Quel régal et quelle l’équipe !!! De passage dans le fief familial pour rendre visite à mes parents, c’est avec plaisir que j’ai découvert cette adresse exceptionnelle. Situé dans une bâtisse historique datant de 1600, Nous sommes venus un lundi, je repartais le lundi suivant et nous avons tellement aimé que nous sommes revenus déjeuner le dimanche ... Ici, aucune prétention, toute l’attention est dans l’assiette et le service. J’en salive encore! Une valeur sure, de l’apéritif à tomber à la renverse avec les mignardises et le délicieux cocktail pour vous mettre en appétit en passant par les plats plus succulents les uns que les autres ... sans oublier la farandole de desserts !!! Didier, qui assure le service nous a fait nous sentir en famille avec une bienveillance inouïe et le Chef a plaisir à voir ses clients savourer ses délicieux mets. La meilleure façon de partager dans cette review ma délectation c’est de mettre en image nos mémorables plats... Dont acte !-) Merci à toute l’équipe pour ces merveilleux souvenirs gravés à jamais. La Rôtisserie du Roi Leon offers both an historical landmark and the most traditional and mind blowing culinary experience. The food is mesmerizing and will have you make arrangements to get back to that tasteful lunch or dinner at least one more time during your stay !

Best Restaurant in Bayonne! Strongly Recommended!!!

I stayed in Bayonne for 7 days to attend a conference and tried several different restaurants. None of them were as good as this one! I went there twice, and I wish I could have gone a third time on my last day in Bayonne, but unfortunately, it was closed. I was so disappointed!
