If you’re craving Japanese food (like we were, although to be fair we’d been living in Japan for 18mths) I’d avoid this place. To provide a balance review we tried noodle dishes from both corners (yakisoba €10 and ramen €9.5) The soup base for the ramen is quite severely lacking in flavour - even for a shoyu base (which is the lightest), it’s aroma was mostly from the fragrant sesame oil liberally spooned over the top. The noodles were good, firm yet flavorful. The other toppings don’t warrant a mention. Next was the yakisoba. Well, that was a disaster - the overly sweet sauce they use (normally the sauce is quite sweet, but this was sweeeeeeet!) is essentially all you can taste - no smoky flavour from the wok at all (because the guy on the wok is smashing out 300 portions of this stuff per hour for the likes of ubereats, meaning very little quality control) the noodles here are also very good, I’d like to think they make their own, but can’t confirm it. For the price, it’s reasonable for the area, but expensive for...
Read moreI ordered a meal I really didn’t like (the most expensive meal with fried gambas) and had only a bite of it. I asked gently if it could be replaced by another meal. I asked both a team member and the supposedly manager (the guy wearing black lenses covering his eyes in black, with a ponytail). They both said no without trying to find a solution apart from paying again for another meal and this manager was rude to me, leaving straight away after, leaving me in disbelief.
It’s the first time I experienced this in my life. I used to go there for a ramen and bring friends from abroad to this place but this is never going to happen again since they can’t afford having decent staff members, being attentive and making you feel comfortable when dining in.
It’s only a few members again but these guys should not be in contact of customers (the manager and the...
Read moreI recently dined at this ramen place, and while it had its merits, I couldn't help but feel that it fell short in terms of authenticity.
First, let's talk about the broth. The ginger flavor was quite overpowering, which might be a hit or miss for some, but personally, it was a bit too much for my taste. I prefer a more balanced and nuanced broth when it comes to ramen.
On the bright side, the Ebi Yakisoba did not skimp on the shrimp. They were generous with the shrimp, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the downside was that the dish seemed to lack the complexity of flavors you'd expect. It leaned heavily on a soy-based taste, and I was hoping for more depth and variety in the flavors.
One thing this place does excel in is portion size. If you're looking for a filling meal, you won't leave hungry. The generous portions are...
