Le 7 politely discouraged my brother from asking for his steak well-done. The server practically outright refused to allow my plebian brother his hockey puck burnt steak. I was overjoyed with this tact, recalling as I can, the many destroyed pieces of red meat my brother has devoured in other fine eateries.
We say on their orbiting patio, which sublimely overlooked a perfect Bordeaux sunset. I'd recommend dining alfresco here, as the views are wonderful, the air clean as a whistle and the atmosphere as good as any Marvin Gaye song will ever create.
I had the Chicken from the South-West of France, which comprised chestnut and mushroom stuffing, along with roasted vegetables and a chicken au jus sauce, and as I said, my brother the Rubia Gallega, which is a breed of cattle from North-west Spain. This was the dish the server refused to allow my brother to destroy by burning it. This heavenly piece of beef was served, mid-rare with mashed fondant potatoes, mesclun with truffle vinaigrette aND Guillaume Gé Perigueux truffle sauce.. The meals were beautifully plated and prepared with an artisan's touch. We also order a cheese board to accompany our wine and the cheeses were homemade, which I mean, come on: homemade cheese to pair with a lovely Médoc Bordeaux?
Desserts we impossible to pass on and if you look at the photos of our desserts, you'll know why. I had the pink grapefruit and coconut sphere, which is coconut mousse, with stewed and preserved grapefruit, raspberry spherification, and pomegranate sorbet and my brother, the chocolate Pecan Pearl, which is Bahibé milk chocolate mousse, pecan praline, crushed shortbread, creamy dark chocolate and cocoa nib sorbet.
Our hosts were gracious, informed, spoken excellent English and treated us like one of their own. I will...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience - food was poor and service was even worse.
Our mains took 45 minutes to arrive and three of the fish dishes were extremely undercooked, the centre was raw like sashimi and even slightly slimy. We informed the waiter and without even inspecting the fish he proceeded to tell us that this is how the fish is supposed to be cooked - wtf? This waiter was terrible, felt like he was implying that we don’t know how to eat fish lol but we’ve been to many high end restaurants and I can tell you this fish was RAW. It would be acceptable if it was sashimi or tataki but this was supposed to be a cooked fillet of fish.
Anyway we sent it back to the kitchen and the chef came out to apologise and admitted the fish was undercooked so he cooked new serves for us and waived the charges. Appreciated this apology and compensation (hence the two stars instead of one star), but still overall a very poor experience.
The other dishes we ordered were also not great, my mum’s ratatouille was served cold and I didn’t enjoy the lamb. For the price and atmosphere we expect...
Read moreWe made a reservation for 2:45 PM on a Saturday and the system took it. We confirmed the day before (via the email they sent us). On the day, they called us several times to re-confirm. We did! Upon arrival (10 min early) we were informed the kitchen is closed and their full menu is not available. We did not feel welcomed. Clearly they didn’t want us there. The food was just ok - not quite the standard I expected, but ok nonetheless. The service was subpar- we even had to ask for napkins. They brought us butter but no bread - we inquired about the butter dish placed on the table and they indicated that bread will be coming shortly. Overall a disappointing experience and we cannot recommend this tourist trap. Clearly, their listing on google is incorrect since it shows their hours as open. Surely, they need to review their availability online and not trick people into making reservations they cannot honor. I advise caution while making the reservation. There are many other better choices with great food and service...
