Bordeaux Day Trip ~

Locals were recommending this restaurant to us, on 2 separate occasions. One said it's the taste of his grandma's cooking while growing up, while the other mentioned that this is her most favourite restaurant across the entire Bordeaux. We knew we needed to try, even though there were many other restaurants around the city that had higher ratings. Boy oh boy were we not disappointed. Got ourselves a Plateau de Fruits de Mer, the Escargots Persillade, and some Oysters. Everything was extremely fresh, like it came straight from the sea. We added some grilled red mullet, and the fresh fish sure added some layers of enjoyment to the meal. Washed it all down with a bottle of Petit Chablis white wine. What really blew my mind was the amount of crab roe in the crab. If you're a roe lover, this item is a must-order. Their desserts were also fabulous. Tried their carpaccio d'ananas, sorbet mangue-passion (thinly sliced pineapple with passion fruit sorbet), and the verrine du verger, marmalade pomme creme a la poire, crumble anandes et mousse de pomme golden (apple crumble). Both ended the meal extremely well. Service was also extremely pleasant. Servers mostly tried to speak English to us, without much prejudice. They were mostly friendly no matter who we asked for help. And the male boss even helped me with the paper towels when I bumped into him at the washroom while washing my hands! People working here, must enjoy working here. Definitely a gem of a spot, whether you're a local or a tourist. Thank you team, for taking good care of us Asians, in your country!

So disappointed. We went for lunch today and the service was appalling. I can't quite remember the last time I ate at a restaurant when the service was so bad, to the point it was uncomfortable - all for the expense of €130. We ate one starter between 4, four main meals, bottle of wine and a glass of juice - so not expensive in today's money but I still have to work hard to earn it and when I spend it, I want to enjoy it. At one point while trying to give my order the waiter clearly was not listening and then got the meal wrong - one of our diners has food requirements. While seated a diner came in to ask for a table for 3, there were 10 empty seats inside on a very hot day but he was told no and that he had to sit outside - the 10 seats remained empty while we were there! I would not recommend this restaurant due to the service. The food was good but nothing you can't get elsewhere with great service.

Terrible service, condescending attitude towards customers. They serve oil with mold on the oysters without even apologizing. They claim it's a piece of oyster in the oil. Very rude. On the first day, we couldn't even get in because there was no reservation. On the second day, we managed to get in but were extremely disappointed. The chairs are very uncomfortable, and it feels like you're falling backward.

Thank you for your response. We are now even more convinced that your restaurant doesn’t deserve even a single star because you are liars. Yes, we came on Wednesday without a reservation. Following your suggestion, we made a reservation for Thursday. However, we were terribly shocked by the service and the rudeness we encountered. My husband was eating the butter, opening it half-packaged. When he opened a second half-pack under the foil, he found mold inside. Instead of apologizing, the waiter was rude and disrespectful to him. You are a terrible restaurant, ruining the experience of the beautiful city of Bordeaux. Is it really necessary to ask for a sauce or simply some vinegar with oysters? Is it necessary to wait 20 minutes just to settle the bill? We even had to go to the bar to pay, and you did it with a look of annoyance, as if doing us a favor. Very uncharacteristic of the French and the city of Bordeaux. I would say, "ugh" for your restaurant. I won’t recommend it to anyone. We visited other places, not even on Google’s radar, hidden gems with young staff, young restaurants. Wonderful service. I recommend everyone visiting the city...

The seafood was fresh and the price was okay - not too high, not too low - however, the service was not great. 1. When we came for our reservation, my friend didn't know the restaurant had seating on both sides of the street so she was just confirming that we were being sat with the right restaurant and the owner snapped at her. That was just a small thing but then 2. When we got our food, we were sharing and we told the waiter and waitresses this but they never brought us small plates which is fine if a. I didn't see the same staff members bring plates before serving food to the table next to us and b. We didn't ask the staff 2-3 times for the plates. We still didn't get it when asking the 2 main waiters - they looked the most experienced, and one of them even rolled her eyes at me (like why?. A 3rd waitress brought 1 plate for 3 people to share eventually. Additionally, I also noticed that they showed the wine bottles being served to another table sitting on the other side of us but didn't do the same for us when we ordered our wines. Why the difference in service level and kindness? Are we perhaps not the right demographic or didn't order the right things? Hmm. Weird. Considering we spent like 50-60 euros a person there, I really cannot rate this...
