I was let down by my experience here.
I paid 250€ (roughly) for two 4-course menus and a wine pairing. We found the wine pairing to be quite basic (nothing exciting or surprising, just an average wine selection you'd expect at a bistro but for 42€ for 3 glasses of wine we expected to be mind blown, especially at 14€ a glass but instead we were served basic wines that didn't feel entirely well paired with the meal at Parisian prices) but what really let us down was the wait times between courses...
Between our amuse-bouche and starter there was an hour wait and then between our third dish and main there was a 1.5 hour wait! We'd been sat in the restaurant for over 2.5 hours and had only had an amuse-bouche and our starters...
They'd forgotten to send the order though and they apologised but regardless, the wait times between all of the other dishes was absurd (we spent about 4 hours in this restaurant, which is fine if there is food and wine flowing but we were simply... Forgotten). They did apologise and offered two glasses of champagne (it was almost midnight and we were exhausted, hungry and just wanted to go home by that point) but even before, during and after the wait times, all of this the service felt... Lacklustre to say the least. Especially considering it was my partner's birthday meal.
I've given 3 stars because the food was fine, the service was ok, the atmostphere was a bit meh... It just isn't somewhere that I feel lives up to its reviews at all.
I personally wouldn't go back. Bordeaux has other culinary experiences I much prefered, within the same sort of price range. I would recommend Les Influences or La Table...
Read moreModjo offers a unique dining experience centred around creative cuisine. I made a lunch reservation and upon arrival, was given a choice of seating.
The atmosphere is calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. The dishes were beautifully presented and delightfully tasty, with subtle and nuanced flavours. I opted for the Menu du Marché at €28, which included:
• L’oignon carbonara : compotée d’oignons au parmesan, dés de jambon à la truffe et sel fumé • Volaille jaune cuite sur le coffre, pommes de terre paillasson, ketchup de fraises et mayonnaise estragon, jus réduit • Coque chocolat, mousse fraises et cœur pistache, glace cannelle
As a pleasant surprise (gesture of courtesy), they served a delightful Amuse-Bouche with a canapé featuring creamy cucumber, smoked salmon, and a seasoned sauce in a unique presentation. They also offered a minimalist dessert with marshmallow and a chocolate truffle.
The service was impeccable throughout my visit— prompt, courteous, and attentive —enhancing the overall fine dining experience. Modjo is a must-visit for anyone seeking gastronomic delights...
Read moreThe service and food were excellent.
I went for the 4 course blind menu and was really impressed with the delicious food that I was served. Highlights for me were the scallops three ways, the lobster with a wonderful orange flavoured sauce, the pigeon breast with a selection of beautifully cooked and flavoured vegetables.
To finish the 4 course blind menu my dessert was a great combination of textures and tastes assembled by the chef at my table. The combination was arranged to represent a Christmas Tree and included chocolate ice cream, chestnut flavoured cream, sponge cake and meringue.
As a departure from the 4 course blind menu, I also a wonderful plate of charcoal infused melted blue cheese served over toasted bread and accompanied by a salad with hazelnuts.
Through the evening the service was excellent in that it was attentive but not intrusive.
All in all this was...
