The hype around Gruppomimo is high. We all saw the pasta cooked/mixed in a cheese wheel on their instagram, but where did it went on the 21st of June 2021 ? So you basically go to this place with high expectations, thinking you’re paying for some kind of food show happening in front of you, and end up being disappointed.
We had : The tomato and basilic burrata which was GREAT but pricey. (14€) The pasta with truffles “alla valentina” which was dry and sauceless. (24€) The pasta carbonara which was also dry. The taste of parmesan and egg was just absent. The plate was just overly peppered. (16€)
You can compare my photos to some influencers on socials. You’d see the difference.
Disappointing, false advertising, and one person in their staff made us rush our meal : A little after she dropped the mains, she asked us if everything was alright as my partner was making a strange face. We said “yes”, and she replied “oh so i can take back your plate then?” while there was still food in our plates. At that point we were done with that restaurant and said back “sure”
Would not recommend this place.
UPDATE : No reassessment from the owners. This is actually getting funny and UNPROFESSIONAL at all levels. I tried to lay down every issue I encountered during my experience with you. You just based your answer from my very first sentence. If you wish to be sarcastic, I could be too. I won’t spend my time bashing your establishment but damn how tempting that is. I do hope every person who reads my comment take that in account if they wish to ever go...
Read moreNew to Boulogne and was looking for a neighborhood vibe, welcoming, yet sophisticated Italian spot I could easily order from given the state of things. Being a native New Yorker, I am quite skeptical and picky when it comes to my Italian cuisine preferences, not to mention quality, freshness of product, and presentation. Mimo does not disappoint. In fact, I can’t seem to switch to any other restaurant when it comes to ordering or eating out. The lasagna bolognese literally melts in your mouth. The carbonara is the perfect solution to a cold wintry evening especially if you pair it with that bottle of red you’ve been saving for a special occasion. Eating Mimo is the special occasion. Remember that scene in Chocolat where the guests are dining in slow motion savoring every bite... that’s me alone, in my flat, also, in slow motion. The staff is super friendly and happy to suggest new recommendations so be ready to have your go to order challenged with new specials by the chef and his team. Last but not least... if you ever eat your pizza and leave the crust... get ready to break that habit once youve had their signature, Neapolitan pies. A true Italian moment in the heart of Boulogne, as well as a nostalgic and savory tribute to my New York bred...
Read moreWe have ordered the pizzas for delivery a few times - they are good, but not spectacular. About the same as any other Neapolitan restaurant in the neighbourhood. I agree with others that their social media is better than the food, but still worth it if you live in the neighbourhood and looking for decent food delivered. Just be aware that the food does not come from their Boulogne restaurant in the North, but rather a kitchen near to the bridge to Issy les Molineaux. We have had the food arrive stone cold before as a result of the long commute, so heat up the oven before it arrives to refresh it :).
Three stars because their customer service is subpar… no way to get in contact with them by phone, through a chat function tied to google maps, which states a 30% response rate. Needed information to inform dietary restrictions of one guest, left a message and, hours later, no response - meant that person couldn’t eat the food we had ordered for delivery. Shame and meant a poor experience for them. It isnt difficult to have a phone number… very unfortunate.
Also, if they don’t want to deal with customer’s questions, why not put more info on the website to help people with dietary restrictions? Seems...
