Came for my first visit with my wife to Paris and we admired the city and its vibes until one day we decided to have our first parisian brunch and I came across mother Cafe, read few pf the reviews and didn’t believe the negative ones as the place seemed decent, spoiler alert!! It’s not even close to be decent .. why? It’s not the menu or the decoration or the prices ( overprices for such cheap people working there to be honest)
It’s mainly the people, and the service! The gaze the guy at the reception gave us was already non welcoming, the menu is not communicated properly, we asked for the wifi code and the girl said its something jonjores or jean jauress or jaunejoures when we asked how to spell it she just IGNORED US and left to have a long funny chat with her 4 colleagues at the cafe bar i was waving at them asking for one of them to come get our order and they just looked at us and ignored the bald guy who we met first was having his coffee even, and just shook his head that he will come, the lady came again to say brunch menu is only served on weekends we asked for a normal brunch she said oh we don’t have it, then she suggested an ‘omelette’ when we aked where is it on the menu to see the ingredients she said with an attitude ( actually its too late we won’t serve that too ) we left the restaurant and four of them were just chatting again ignoring...
Read moreVery poor experience! We were recommended this place by a family members. Our expectations might have been too high because we were really disappointed :( We arrived at 6:20pm (our booking was for 6:30pm), the waiter said we could order tapas and drinks until the kitchen opens at 7pm. We waited 30mn at the table to order drinks and another one hour to get our dinner (both drinks and dinner were ordered at the same time, while drinks arrived within 10mn, it took another 45mn and a reminder before our food got served). Throughout the evening, we couldn't get the waiter's attention to order another drink, and by the time he showed up it was already 9pm and our toddler was getting tired. Apart from the service, the food was not exceptional: the burger was ok, but the meat not well cooked as we had asked for. That was our first time here, on a Friday evening...maybe the place and service are better outside of dinner hours and/or...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! As this is an only branch place in Boulogne with very good reviews, the expectations were high. We ordered pankake with egg Benedict and were surprised to see when received it. The egg is definitely not Benedict, but more like basic fried. Portion is small and priced at 17 euro, which overpriced for what you will get. Now, the coffee is served in Coutume cups. Understand it is run by the famous upscale Coutume. What I received I can not even call a coffee, but just brown water. I often go the Coutume cafe on Rue de Babylone and the coffee served there is superb. But in Mothers cafe the coffee served (supposedly to be Coutume) is lower standard than any street cafe, huge disappointment and of course no...
