Ok.. you have restaurants and you have RESTAURANTS. I never opened the door of the kitchen to say thank you to the chef.. This time I did. I went to a lot of restaurants, but it was a long time ago my taste pupils on my tongue were this excited. Chorizo sauce?? With meat.. please feed me this in a bowl.
Even when I was filled up, after a delicious starter (chicken salad extraordinaire) and the main course (cut meat with a chorizo sauce from heaven) I ordered a cheese platter as dessert. Just to make sure I didn't miss out on anything.
Also very nice garden ambience, good staff, perfect red wine, layback music on the back ground.. (no, in your face help I cant hear you surroundings) For me.. if you are in this town. Take the extra (little) walk outside the centre. And go here instead of one of those tourist bound places. And I promise you.. if you are in for a good taste. You wont be disappointed.
Also good when you have children. Chapo!!!
P.s When I was there at 21.00 they were still open. (Google says there close...
Read moreThe lime green menus and the purple tablecloths should have been enough of a warning. This place really isn't as great as the reviews suggest. I suspect most of the 5 star reviews are fake. The service - there was only one waitress serving 8+ tables for dinner service, so although she tried her best it terribly slow. The food - they try to do something special but it falls flat. The duck was undercooked and tough. The cassoulet (a local specialty) hopelessly bland. The desserts were not too bad. We won't be coming back.
Edit in response to restaurant owner's response: I am not the first critical reviewer to get accused of being dishonest or worse by the owner. Instead of taking constructive criticism and trying to learn from it, he rather insults his customers. Besides, he himself is dishonest when saying that our plates were empty - they were not at all. Disappointing attitude and I am changing my score from two to one stars...
Read moreThis restaurant is a tucked away gem. We tried to get a table on Tuesday evening but they were fully booked. The staff suggested to call in the morning. Which we did, and they recognised me. I do not know if they had tables available inside. We were sat outside under a canopy, away from any draft. The service was excellent. The starters and main courses were delicious. The fig coulis went really well with foie gras. And the veau was so soft and cooked to perfection. If I have to criticise anything, it would have to be the white chocolate tartlet in the triple chocolate desert. its flavour was too close to condensed milk. But then, I'm a little fussy. It is value for money, we always suggest it to our friends. I highly...
