Le-Bis-Troquet — Restaurant in Carcassonne

Learn from my mistakes. Food is definitely good, service is overwhelmed and is to blame for our dissatisfaction. But I still recommend it, avoiding our mistakes. We arrived very hungry, having enjoyed already aperitifs before. Service was slow or not available for any question. It took 45 minutes before being asked what we wanted to eat. The patron does an amazing job, managing the barbecue at the entrance (there is only one person more in the kitchen) and looking after the guests. The garçon running around is either incompetent or not entitled. The concept of the restaurant is different from others. It’s good to understand this. The best would have been to order one of the four dishes of the day, this would have made our waiting time shorter. There are no olives or bread served to make you feel comfortable. Tartins are toasted breads with different toppings. Delicious but not a real starter, unless you share it. We left before ordering one of the main dishes as we felt somehow ignored for too long. What a fabulous little restaurant - we were served by the owner, who very obviously is passionate about the food he serves and where it is sourced - he was so friendly and chatty, and loved what he was doing. It’s all local produce, which is prepared by his Armenian chef, which brings a very tasty twist to the dishes. The beef, pork, cheeses, courgette soup, red wine (organic and local), the Cremant de Limoux, the service, the atmosphere - everything, we would recommend. A chance find, based on Google reviews, and so pleased that we went! I’d definitely go again if we’re staying longer, but sadly we leave...

Really lovey locally ran restaurant in the centre of Carcassonne.

A really friendly local host, he was very patient whist we tried to order in as much French as we could.

The dishes are really different and not at all what we expected.

The restaurant was full and the food came out quickly.

The Armenian salad was really fresh and different to anything I have tasted before in a good way.

The beef with pasta and salad. Also yummy, but the pasta was slightly underdone, but the beef was immaculate.

The lemon meringue was also absolutely amazing 10/10.

Would definitely reccomend this friendly local...
