Nice little place. In like some people I enjoyed the collection and thought it was well presented. Kept us entertained for about an hour and a half. When I was having trouble getting my baggage locker shut the lady on reception joked that I needed to be like Popeye. There was lots of information about the various collections in English, printed out in each gallery. For those people who had trouble getting upstairs, there does appear to be a lift. The gallery staff chattered, which I didn’t find offensive. Made it feel a bit less stuffy. In general I thought it was very good for free!

The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Carcassonne is definitely one of the top places to visit in the city. It's well-kept and offers a wonderful blend of paintings and sculptures to admire. What's even better is that entry is free, making it accessible to everyone. A complete tour of the museum typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace. During my visit on a weekday, the museum was quiet with minimal visitors, creating a peaceful and immersive experience. If you're in Carcassonne, don't miss out on this cultural gem!

This is a lovely gallery located very centrally in the city. The staff were really friendly and spoke great English, and held our water bottles for us as they weren't allowed in. Entry is completely free, which was a nice surprise. The gallery has a great selection of paintings and sculptures from different eras - they go back to about the 17th century. It was a great use of a few hours, and I would definitely visit again if I was in the area. There are also several stalls selling food in the square opposite.

This museum hosts a very mediocre collection, the artworks are exhibited in a unsettling way with the ceiling lighting reflecting on the paintings making it impossible to see them clearly. There are some better known artists (like van Goyen) but then again it isnt their best work that is hanging here. The staff at the door is attentive, yet the rooms on the ground floor don’t offer a lot and the upperroom are only accesible by stairs making it an uninclusive space for everyone. When roaming through the upper floors we got the abrupt announcement (very loud and unsettling) that the museum is closing in 2 minutes. We just reached the last room so wanted to take a quick look within that timeframe but the staff (4 people) nearly pushed us out of the museum. They kept negatively announcing they were closing because they all needed to have lunch for two hours, making us an inconvenience for wanting to finish our visit for the last two minutes.

Honestly, don’t bother making an extensive visit as the staff is incredibly rude, unconsiderate and clearly only care about their ridiculously long lunch despite of the public function the museum should offer. Moreover there is barely any curation of the pieces as there is no information whatsoever besides some paper sheets praising the museum’s...

My review is for the rude lady that was working at the museum today. She saw all four of us walk in with bags and was quiet as we walked around the gift shop. Then as we went to enter a portrait room, she began to shout and say we weren't allowed in there with our bags. She told us we needed to put €1 in the locker for our bags and was visibly annoyed there was one small suitcase. She snapped her fingers at my sister and told her it would need to go near the fireplace. I decided not to continue with the visit because of her. She was so rude. Things can be explained politely and simply. Shouting and snapping your fingers at someone like they are a dog is completely...

I didn't even make it around the museum due to leaving because of the extremely rude woman running the entrance way. She didn't acknowledge me when I walked in, but remained silent although I had said "Bonjour" as soon as I walked into the main area to the left, she clapped her hands loudly! And said sounding noticeably irritated, that I needed to put the luggage I had away! She then proceeded to click her fingers at me as you would call a dog to you!! I ignored her and instead walked straight out, I was utterly disgusted in the manner I had been spoken to. The woman needs a lesson in manners as this extremely rude interaction is not...
