Tucked away just off the main square in the historic heart of Vaison-la-Romaine, Le Bistroquet is a family-run bistro that delivers exactly what you hope for when dining in Provence: fresh, local flavors, a warm welcome, and a setting that makes you want to linger.
Run by a local family that clearly loves what they do, Le Bistroquet blends rustic charm with authentic Provençal cooking. But what truly sets it apart isnât just the food â itâs the feeling. Youâre welcomed like a regular, even if itâs your first visit.
None of us spoke French, but that didnât seem to matter. On a hot August evening, despite the late hour (it was around 9 p.m.), we were kindly offered a table for two adults, one child, and our giant schnauzer.
The food was exceptional. My partner and I both had "AraignĂ©e de cochon grillĂ©e Ă la sauce â grilled pork with a rich, flavorful sauce". Our daughter ordered the "CĂŽte de taureau marinĂ©e et grillĂ©e" â marinated and grilled bull steak â and enjoyed every bite.
For dessert, we ordered three different options to sample as much of the menu as possible. I had the "Fabuleux baba au rhum" which truly exceeded all expectations â a must-try. My partner chose the "Tarte au citron revisitĂ©e" and also helped finish our daughterâs mousse au chocolat, along with what was left of my "baba au rhum". For someone rarely impressed by desserts, his verdict was: âout of this world.â
Weâre already planning to return before our trip ends.
So if you find yourself in Vaison-la-Romaine â whether exploring the Roman ruins or browsing the lively Tuesday market â donât miss Le Bistroquet. Itâs the kind of place that feels like home, even if you're just...
Read moreThe service was excellentâfriendly, authentic, and perfectly timed. The menu was creative and refreshingly different: for example, razor clams as an appetizer (outstanding!), a fish and spinach lasagna for the main course (also fantastic), and a âdeconstructedâ lemon tart for dessert. We had trouble choosing because we wanted to try everything!
Best of all, though, was the execution: everything was delightfully tasty and wellâbalanced. The only thing missing was pretensionâthankfully!
A special thank you to Sylvia and Patrick for their warm welcome. Weâll definitely be...
