STAY AWAY!!! …unless you enjoy waiting for hours for bad food.
First of all, the evening started well. We were seated at a table outside, the waiter was smiling and joking and the drinks arrived fast. The temperature had just decreased to below 30 degrees and we were looking forward to a night with great food after reading the reviews here… But, my oh my, did everything go south from here.
We skipped the starters and went directly to the main courses (we wanted to save some space for desserts). It took a good half hour before the waiter came and took our order, and from there, we waited MORE THAN 90 MINUTES for our food! 90 MINUTES!!! …and this was with a 6 months old baby on the arm… During this time, the waiter did not communicate with us or even glance at us. I thought we were watching a show of the magical Houdini, because no one has disappeared better than him until today. No updates, no bread, nothing until 10 min before the food arrived. Then they had the guts to inform us, with 5 sad slices of bread, that the food was ALMOST ready…
We ordered 4 different dishes from menu, and by that time, you’d think they had been by the sea to fish the octopus, slaughter a cow and fly to Spain to get their hands on the Iberian ham. The meat itself was fine (standards were low at this point), but anything besides that was overcooked, soggy, lumpy or all of the above.
I could go on, but the conclusion is SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere else. Don’t wait for the waiter to make the same stupid joke when the machine spits out the receipt; “You won, wanna try again?” I dont wish this for anybody else.
PS, from what we could see, the same story repeated itself at all the...
Read moreI was hoping to give this place a stellar review, but unfortunately it just didn’t match the expectations. The service is wonderful when it’s there. The main waitress (one of the owners?) is super friendly and charming. However, even her enthusiasm and personality do not make up for the long waiting times, first at arrival and then after the main course. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s not cheap either and waiting for 30 minutes with dirty plates on the table and nothing to drink is just not ok. The food started wonderfully with super tasty and elegant entrées, but the main course was somewhat disappointing (the signature dish of pluma tasted a bit overcooked and the flavours were not balanced). The deserts got generally good reviews from our party, but my cheese platter was a disaster. Three small pieces of quite similar, half soft cheeses, served without any explanation about what was on the plate, or any of the usual garnishes. And this in a region famous for its cheeses! In the end we asked the staff for help with ordering a cab. After stating that it was nearly impossible, a waitress called a “cab” that charged us 45 euro for driving in total...
Read moreFood and ambiance were phenomenal, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. I hesitate to say this since we ate at many excellent restaurants on a recent trip to Colmar, but I think the dinner we had at Les Six Montagnes was the best of the trip. I had an Iberico pork dish that was just so flavorful and delicious. We split some oysters as well which were equally delicious, rounded off with some glasses of wine. The ingredients all tasted so fresh, the presentation was excellent, and the seasonings were perfect. The restaurant is conveniently located in the "Petite Venice" section of town, which is scenic and perfect for meandering and sightseeing. The owner was very friendly and took some pictures for us of the group - very nice done pictures I have to say - and we were seated at a high counter overlooking the square. Perfect for relaxing, eating, and people watching. I understand the restaurant is pretty new (about a year old) and I suspect it will do very well. I'd highly recommend them if...
