Villa Tokyo — Restaurant in Fontainebleau

I used to be a loyal customer of Villa Tokyo in Fontainebleau, even living right above the restaurant. I dined there regularly and introduced many of my friends to the place—generating solid business for them over time.

Unfortunately, my trust was completely broken by one experience. I once placed and paid for an order in person, and my friend was scheduled to pick it up an hour later. When she arrived, they asked her to pay again. She did—unaware that I had already paid.

Once we realized the double charge, I returned with all the proof: transaction receipts, debit statements, and payment timestamps. Despite this, the staff completely denied the situation. They kept shifting blame and demanding more “documents,” even though I had already shown clear evidence of double payment.

They knew I was about to leave Fontainebleau, and used that as an excuse to delay the resolution. In the end, I never got my money back.

I’m deeply disappointed by how a place I supported and trusted handled this so poorly. What should have been a simple refund turned into a frustrating and disheartening experience. I can no longer recommend...

We arrived at Font around 10pm and all the restaurants were getting ready to close.

Thank goodness Villa Tokyo opens until midnight. What a lifesaver because we were starving and cold. The lady (who’s also the owner) was so hospitable and welcomed us to sit at a large table.

All three of us ordered hot noodle soup and it was delicious on a cold night. We also ordered spring rolls and ordered a bottle of Evian. However, I do have to say 1L of Evian for 9 euros was STEEP. Also, our friend got her bowl of pho and we waited for 10-15 minutes to get our meals afterwards. Timing of meals was off (this is why they lose a star).

If you’re looking for late night eats in Font, this is THE place...

The only place in this town where we received friendly, sincere service (other than our hotel) and a nice, warm meal. The lovely woman who works there greeted us kindly and upon realizing we were foreigners, immediately switched to English (though we assured her we spoke French as well and switched back.) The space is cosy, the Jasmine tea was phenomenal, the food was delicious and came out at a decent time. And it was well-priced for what we ordered. 10/10, would definitely...
