Le Franklin restaurant in downtown Fontainebleau is a fantastic dining spot. The service is top-notch. During our visit, we unintentionally ordered a salad with goat cheese and honey that contained bacon, which was a problem for us as vegetarians. The restaurant staff handled the situation with incredible kindness and understanding. They promptly replaced the salad with a vegetarian version at no extra cost, demonstrating their professionalism. For those who aren't vegetarians, the boudin noir is a delightful choice, bursting with rich flavor. The restaurant's décor exudes a warm and quintessentially French atmosphere. Our experience at Le Franklin was excellent, and we wholeheartedly recommend this charming restaurant in the city center. Date night tonight was a great success. This place was recommended to me by a colleague who knows the restaurants around Fontainebleau very well. Their fish tartare possibilities change depending on the availability. Tonight, I ordered tuna with cucumber and onions. It came with fries and a salad. Good quantity for the price, not too much and not too little. Partner ordered veal with seasonal veggies. Cooked as he expected, medium rare. For dessert, we had a cafe and thé gourmand each. It comes with small doses of desserts, being creme brûlée with orange blossom, rich and creamy chocolate mousse, and a tangy, refreshing fontainebleau with raspberry coulis. Solid experience, delicious food, casual setting, and an authentic bistro that we'll be visiting again...

Let's start with the good part: the food was good, price/quality is also good. Tartare de bar à la pomme Granny and Tartare de bœuf. Both dishes came in relatively large portions and tasted very well. For the meat lovers: chunks were maybe on the large side but I like them that way.

The bad part: the service or lack of it. They forgot a starter while 3 persons already had theirs served. Dropped a bottle of drinks while serving and just acted if nothing happened. The whole evening I got the impression the staff were more busy with socializing with their locals 'friends'.
