Good views, shame about the food. And expensive too.
It is in a nice pedestrianised location with views of the sea, airport, and passing tourists for people-watching. And enjoyable and relaxing (though not quiet) place to be. This is one of the most stylish places in this area, but looks can be deceptive.
The service level was very variable. From excellent to off-hand and cursory, all in one evening. Weird, but not a big problem.
The real issue was the food quality. Two starters, two mains.
One starter was foie gras, which was was served very generously (could have been a main course!) Sadly I found it lacked taste. The other starter was a king prawn salad. The veggies were cut and presented beautifully - well beyond expectations. But, the prawns were tasteless and there was hardly any dressing (to be fair oil and vinegar were in the table).
One main was a pasta with salmon: This too lacked taste, described as "very very bland", albeit again in a generous portion. The other was loup (a chunky white fish) with provencal sauce and crunchy risotto (oddly). The fish was good, but the problem was that there was not much to the sauce, and the risotto was horrid - just tasteless over-cooked dry white rice, awful.
And finally, prices are higher than for adjacent restaurants - they shouldn't be, the quality does...
Read moreVisited this restaurant on 2th April. There were only another three tables occupied. Three waiters aged around thirty were on duty standing round what looked like a DJ stance. All of them singing very loudly and dancing and clicking their fingers, acting like teenagers at a rave They turned the already very loud music up to booming for each chorus. I could barely hear what the waiter was saying. This was at 7pm and considering that of the four tables occupied two of them had diners who were in their sixties and seventies, It made for a very frosty atmosphere. It wouldn't have been as bad if the food had been good but an order of fish came to the table with very burnt skin and a risotto with so much cream it was like eating pudding. Mussels were miniscule less than one centimetre big. No wonder the place was so empty. We were in St Laurent du Var for one week and this was the worst restaurant we dined in. The staff could try gauging their customers mood and age range instead of appearing to be having a party...
Read moreThe place is well located, and the whole bar - restaurant looks great and has a chill and warm atmosphere. Regarding the service, the young lady was just 48 hours in, and she was absolutely, absolutely lovely, caring, kind, and nice. It was very joyful to be taken care of by her. Regarding food, could be better. Nothing to say for desserts, and for cocktails, these were fantastic. Now for the Socca, it's far from the one we're used to in Nice. There's cheese flakes on it, and balsamic vinegar, very surprising. Plus it didn't look so fresh or plentiful for the price. Regarding the salmon, perfect, although still surprised by the presence of parmesan on it. Regarding the pasta, perfect as well. Great evening altogether, but wouldn't go there other than for cocktails I believe. I recommend this...
