I visited Vence with my 2 children on last Friday for a open air concert at the square of the town. We went there around 10pm and search for a restaurant next to the square. Then we went to this restaurant with a recommendation of a local person. It was crowded and we were told to come 30 min later by the lady who is working at the restaurant. We came back after 30 min and they showed us a table for me and my 2 children 11 and 8 years old. The lady came to take the our order and I asked a wine for myself and a pizza for my children and soft drink for them. After that this lady spoke in French very rudely and said us that we waited 30 min just for 1 pizza?? As my children speaks French, they translated me what she said. And then I decided to leave this restaurant immediately because of this very rude behavior of this lady. Other guys who are working there were very gentle. But this lady is damaging the reputation of this place. First time I faced this kind of a behavior in France. I am sure the food is very delicious there but I didn't have chance to taste it. But Vence and all the people are very nice. I stayed there 1 week and I had very relaxing...
Read moreI don’t often leave bad reviews, because I usually go to places that serve decent food. Unfortunately, it was a rather abysmal experience here, and the high rating I saw was a massive bait.
Steak of the day was served far from medium rare, cutting into that thing and eating it was a forearm/jaw workout. Fries were cooked very poorly, had zero taste. From an Australian standpoint, you’ll find chips infinitely better at a KFC or grill’d.
Furthermore, my partner and her grandma’s mussels were proper average, with nearly a quarter of the mussels being inedible because they had already died/shell had opened, this should have been separated prior to serving.
I then requested some sauce for my fries, to at least offer respite, but the waiter never be brought it out.
The positive notes would be the atmosphere, as it’s in a nice location with a vibrant crowd. The escargot was also not bad.
Overall, come here if you want to be disappointed. I expected a little better from a French establishment, but this was the ultimate tourist trap. I guess I was spoilt by the past week of french...
Read moreThe owner of this establishment is a very rude person. My wife, two kids, and I stopped by here. I asked if they have a bathroom first to make sure we would not sit at a place without a bathroom. The owner said bathrooms are for customers only.
I understood that and said we would be customers, just confirming there is a bathroom available once we do so. The lady next to him said “upstairs.” I said “okay” and sat at a table.
We sat down and ordered a large pizza, two coffees, an iced tea, and a hot chocolate.
The waiter took our order, but came back a minute later and said, “Sorry, you each have to order food.” The place was not full; it was 2:30 PM. We were appalled by this response. The waiter, clearly disturbed, apologized but said it came from the boss. We left the place.
We have been traveling through Portugal, Spain, and France for two weeks and have never encountered such...
