AVOID! BAD MANAGEMENT AND MEDIOCRE FOOD!
La Casita used to be one of our absolute favorite spots in Antibes. We visited it last year and were blown away by the warm, friendly staff who made us feel genuinely welcome. We ended up dining there 5-6 times during our vacation. They were attentive, kind to our young son, and even recommended local spots to check out — it was the kind of hospitality that made the meal memorable.
Fast forward to this summer — what a complete disappointment. The restaurant has changed ownership, and sadly, everything that made it special is gone. The new staff was cold, indifferent, and borderline rude. We were completely ignored when we arrived — no eye contact, no response to our greeting, no effort to help us get a table. It was uncomfortable and honestly shocking given our previous experience.
Eventually, one decent waiter noticed us and offered a table, but most of the staff was stiff and joyless. The service was painfully slow, and the food? Absolutely mediocre — bland, forgettable, and not worth the wait. Other diners around us seemed equally unimpressed. They kept complaining about forgotten a request and along weighted bill while the waiters were flirting with single girls dining at the restaurants and ignoring the other people’s requests, including ours.
We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. La Casita has gone from a gem to a place we wouldn’t recommend to anyone. We ended up dining at Falafel next door the day after — not only was the food far better, but the staff was professional, and welcoming. See my separate review on Falafel for more details.
La Casita, under its new management, is a shadow of what it once was. AVOID it if you’re looking for good food or a pleasant...
Read moreScammed us. I’d heard of restaurants overcharging tourists in this region. And unfortunately this one was the worst. First, they charged 5 euro for a sparkling water that we paid 2.5 euros in the supermarket for. Worse, I ordered a glass of wine specifically (verbally, and by pointing to it clearly on the menu). They gave me a glass of wine (didn’t show me the bottle or anything). When I got the bill, it showed a higher charge than what I had ordered. I asked them why, and they claimed I consumed a different wine than the one that I ordered. I said that if they served me the wrong wine, it isn’t my fault. And they (very rudely), said that if I consumed it then I have to pay for what I consumed (doesn’t matter if they served me the wrong one). Absolutely horrible display of rude, obnoxious and intimidating behaviour (by the bald tattooed server). Oh and did I mention they also forgot an item in our order and almost made us miss our train? Honestly, they don’t deserve to be in this business but have unfortunately got prime location and people end up going here anyway. So they do...
Read moreFood was burned, fries were baked in super old oil. We told the waitress we were not so happy with the dish as it tasted super burned. First they returned twice with the same plate telling us that’s the way it’s supposed to be. If I would be a cook I would not even consider serving a steak that burned. Since we didn’t want to eat it and they wouldn’t admit their mistake she would get the manager to talk with us about how to proceed. The manager was “too busy” to attend us and never showed up. We were attracted by the good reviews but it was a big disappointment. Worst thing is that they didn’t take us seriously. At the end we ended up eating just one dish and bought some...
