It is with great sadness that I write this, it was today I realized that the true demise of Indian food was provided by this restaurant. Not only were they able to kill and slaughter Indian cuisine and give it a really bad name, it was accompanied with some of the worst service I have ever had. In short, the bartenders can only make drinks on the menu, and according to the waiter, everything else is outside of their scope and they will not do it.
The chicken samosas are actually potatoes with a chicken piece surfacing, if you are lucky. It was so sad, that the food runner, who look like a deer in headlights at every question, himself thought they were vegetable until he was ushered back out by the kitchen telling him to tell us, it was chicken. The onion pakora was a very sad and tasteless version of burger kings onion rings, this was, I am sure to keep in theme with the utterly tasteless samosas. I am not sure what the condiments were, they were the same with each item and nothing worked. But things didn’t get better, the tandoori fish tikka, was dry, flat and salty but certainly not tandoori, tasted as though it was lightly pan fried in old oil. Then chicken vindaloo, well this was a dish that was confusing, it was sweet and thick with the chicken that was so over cooked one could taste the cardboard coming through, this was a really bad version of a northern Indian dish and nothing that the South Indians take pride in, a thin curry based sauce with succulent chicken, spicy chilies and the flavour of vinegar but best with a spicy tamarind sauce. And from what I overheard the owner and his manager when they were speaking to each other and ignoring me while I paid the bill, they seemed from the south, but like everything else, no concept of what Indian food should be. If they have Indian cooks in the back, they should be retrained or replaced, similar to what should happen to management. Let this be your warning to those wanting to eat Indian food whilst in Aeroville, it would be in my humblest and professional opinion, and as an owner of award winning Indian restaurants for over 40 years, both in England and Canada, stay away, the funeral procession has left this restaurant and one should only go their to mourn the loss of what is known as one of the worlds greatest cuisines. I would have given my feedback had they cared to ask, or shown that they...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant in December 2017. My companion and I was reading the menu at the entrance when a couple came up behind us. The server came and acknowledged them, ignored us. The couple indicated that we were there first. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant.I requested a change to another area which was done reluctantly. It took a while before our order was taken.I was actually getting my coat to leave when the server finally came to take our order.I told him that we were about to leave. He had a wan smile, not sure if it was indifference or misunderstanding. The food came eventually and was as expected.I am not a great lover of Indian food, but my companion was and due to dietary preferencies, that was the best choice in the food court. At no time did anyone come back to check to see if we were ok.Turns out that my companion did not get what she ordered. I encouraged her to return it,but by the time the food came, we were so hungry, that she decided against it..No water was offered. We left and the water glasses were still turned down. Also, the couple that was behind us at the entrance was served long before us.I think they were pretty much done eating before we were served. After we ate,we waited and waited. No one came over.Eventually I went to pay.The one server was standing by the cash register with the cashier. No smiles, no thank you's.We would never go to this place, ever again! Poor, unfriendly,...
