The waiter didn't make us feel very welcomed. It was all business. The food was meh at best. My wife got the chicken with truffle sauce and while you could definitely taste the truffle the chicken was kinda bland. I got the steak tartar and I was really disappointed with it. It was cut in thick pieces, which I know is the way to do it for high end cuisine, but it only works if the meat is tender and of the highest quality. This was DEFINITELY not that. It was hard to chew, which was a pity because everything else in the tartar tasted great. The fries were somewhere between regular and thick cut and tasted great. They didn't allow us to change the syrup in the kids menu for coke even if we paid the 1€ difference so we had to pay for both (really?) The kids menu is REALLY affordable at only 10€ for Chicken strips, fries, a syrup and 1 scoop of ice cream. (Except we ended up paying 14€ because our kids wanted cokes) The ambience of the place was also just ok. It basically looks like a cheap bistro. Also there is no AC. 😢 We only stopped there because it had 4 stars but I think we would have been happier at one of the neighboring 3 star...

My better half and I visited this place last night (after finding out the place we wanted to go was fully booked).

First red flag was the fact that only 3 tables were occupied but I was hangry so jumped at the opportunity for quick service.

And we got quick service - our starters were out in 3 minutes flat (pictured).

The beef tasted ok but everything was cold and clammy all the way through - pretty sure it was pre-made taken from the fridge.

Then I had the duck - pretty uninspiring, tasteless and unseasoned. Ate it all though cos hungry (not saying much because I ate the entire basket of stale baguette).

As for service, the bloke who served us had the personality of a level crossing, as much of a conversation starter as the third half of a football match.

How this place has a 4.2 - the same, may I add, as the pizzeria which...

A disappointing experience. We were hungry and decided to pay this establishment a visit based on the many good reviews. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very plesant gentleman who got us seated. After reviewing the menu and daily suggestions board we opted for the beef francais special with pomme fries and salad for 2. The meal arrived in good time and we began to serve up. The fries and salad were good, but the beef was very tough and chewy. Flavor wise it was fine.

Service was good and our server was kind and receptive to our concerns regarding the toughness of the beef.

While not a great evening out, it does show that sometimes things don't work in one's favor. Will we go back to this restaurant? No. But as they say...

I had the cabecou (cheese), entrecot with blue cheese sauce and cafe gormand. My favorite dish was the cabecou, the rosemary went nicely with the cheese and apple. The blue cheese sauce with the entrecot needed more blue cheese (anyone who doesn't like blue cheese won't order it anyway). The dessert was large enough to share, the best dish was the chocolate fondant while the lemon macaron was too sweet for me. The St Emilion red wine by the glass from Las Cabanes de Bezineau was tasty and a good accompaniment for the meat. I considered 5 stars for the food but the dishes lack the finese that is often found at this price level.
