5+S * The atmosphere, service and music were all so charming, and the food got me grooving like an appropriately charmed snake. The starter was a master class in little additions that make a huge impact on the total experience. While the Veg was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the little gels bursted with flavor, the prosciutto was an excellent pair, the Pickled Onions were White instead of Red, which was an expert way to make it distinct and in harmony with the rest of the dish, and the Parm Crumbles dang near blew my mind as to how they achieved that specific combination of flavor, color and shape. The main, good lord, the pea spread was a spot on delight, each and every Veg had such care to their texture and flavor, the chicken was great and the sauce, WOWZERS, that paired SO WELL with everything, and so did the Pea! The mixing and matching of different items with different sauces and toppings is what good cooking is all about! The dessert was a little simple, didn't pop quite as much as I expected, but that's hardly a crime when it's texture was spot on, and it was cute as a button. (The little lemonade I got was also surprisingly refreshing!) This is Cuisine, and if I could, I would award this place a Michelin Star or two, as it did so much more for its asking price then almost all the other Michelin approved places that I have been. If you are in the area, don't...
Read moreThere is nothing better than going out for dinner with your friends, and walking out of the restaurant filled with joy from a fabulous experience at a decent price. That hopefully sums up the great meal and evening we had at La Table 38.
Walking into the restaurant was like entering a friend’s home. It is comfortable and open, with tables spread out nicely. The waitstaff are all warm and courteous, speaking French and English as desired. Their passion for very good food and wine was clearly evident with the enthusiastic explanations of the menu. They had wonderful local wines available by the glass and a very good selection of bottles (all reasonably priced) on the wine list.
We each loved each of the different starters, main dishes and desserts that we ordered. Nothing was bad. Everything was prepared with care by the kitchen, well presented, and based on the sharing of eventually clean plates (and happy faces at our table) you could say we were all delighted.
In summary, this charming restaurant will not disappoint. I hope you get to experience a savory meal along with delicious wines in a convivial atmosphere like we did! Thanks again to the hard-working team at La Table 38 for making our night out in Saint-Émilion...
Read moreThe hostess and the waitress were welcoming and helpful even though we spoke no French and their English was limited. Food was fantastic and priced very reasonably despite being in wine country. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered: two glasses of wine, homemade foie gras on cereal bread that was very flavorful without overwhelming, 12-hour slow-cooked pork belly that was nicely glazed with a sweet sauce, a hearty and tender rib steak that was cooked to medium rare as suggested and asked, and ending with a chocolate soufflé alongside with mango sorbet that was made with fresh fruits.
Be sure to reserve ahead as this place appears to be very popular. We were lucky enough to get the only small table unreserved right at the beginning of business hours. We saw many patrons stopped by without reservations, and...
