La Clairière — Restaurant in Lille

We were four people to dine there, and it was an amazing experience. We had a sweet potato soup for starter, and it could have been slighly more seasoned, but still very tasty. For main we had a typical French dish and a burger. The burger is one of the best burgers I've had in a very, very long time, and the parmentier was tasty as well, having a nice touch of thyme. The chocolate mousse for dessert was delicious and airy.

They had extremely high-level local beer there, which I have been missing at vegan and vegetarian restaurants (not to talk about many restaurants like that not having alcohol at all). It was probably the best beer I've ever had at a vegan place. Marvellous!

They did not have decaf, but they had something that was not coffee, that was without caffeine and tasted surprisingly similar, but I don't remember the name.

The staff is incredibly friendly, smiling and welcoming. The place was packed, so they were very busy, but they still had time to take care of us and answer our questions. Last but not least, they have three dogs walking around inside, and they're just the cutest! This place is a must if...

My wife and struggled to find a vegetarian restaurant in Lille but eventually came across La Clairière - a vegan food place

We had great expectations, esp after reading the reviews on here. But we both left with a huge disappointment.

The veloute my wife had for starter was tasteless whilst I was served an okay ish quinoa salad but in a plate so small, half of it ended up on the table

The mains were even worse - I went for the Penne dish but got a very stoggy and over seasoned with pepper dish. I could not finish it up and so couldn’t my wife finish her also disappointing main dish

Worse of all, is the attitude of the management when we expressed our disappointment about the whole meal. No apologies whatsoever nor gesture of any form - free dessert or a discount of any sort

I went to "La Clairière" for lunch today, and I was really impressed with the vegan food. I have tried a couple of other vegan restaurants in Lille, but so far this is the best. We ordered "Mafe" with "Mousse au chocolat et noix de coco rapée" and "tartalette chocolat poire". Both the dishes were outstanding in terms of taste and price. The burger looked delicious too on others' tables. Something for me to try the next time I go there. I do not have the habit of clicking pictures before I eat my food, so the review is without pictures. However, I must say this is one of the vegan restaurants I am going to visit again and again. Oh!
