La Pause du Temps — Restaurant in Loches

We’ve never felt the need to write a bad review; but this was genuinely the worst meal and slowest service we’ve ever experienced (all with a €72 price tag).

We were totally ignored for 40 minutes after arriving. Only after going inside to find a waiter was our drink order taken. When it finally arrived, the starter was average and totally unseasoned. Wait staff came outside so infrequently, clearing between courses or ordering drinks took forever (15 minutes or more).

The main courses were both terrible. We chose this place because it was classed as vegetarian friendly, and accept that this is difficult in France (which is ok - we chose to come here!). However, the vegetarian main (Felafel, €17) was genuinely inedible. A limp salad with no dressing, the tiniest pot of lentils and frozen, dry felafels. I am known for I always eating my food, but I couldn’t eat this.

When we complained, with full plates still on the table, the waiter apologised but we still had to go inside to chase the bill, and pay the full amount.

This restaurant is in a lovely location with cool decor and nice wine, but it shouldn’t take more bookings than it’s able to serve. It needs to take the Felafels of the menu because that was an appalling experience I would not recommend...

Unfortunately a bad experience being argued with by the waiter after taking 2 hours to be served a starter and main course. We gave up on the dessert after waiting another half an hour on top only to be told what we'd ordered had already be served to others. To avoid going into all the details we were very dissatisfied by the service, food was OK but an evening ruined. A different waiter may have given a different experience but we will never know as we shall not...

We had an exceptional lunch here today. The menu rotates, but today we had a veal tataki that was extraordinarily tasty. We had mains of sea bass and pork belly confit that were great as well.
