Bistrot Gus — Restaurant in Lyon

Quite short menù and tiny dish choiches as well. On the contrary the wine list is well varied and offers a lot to choose from. Good food quality though and right sized portions (not gourmet with huge plates but little to inexistent content). Overall good experience but I'm not sure I would come back for more as there are far more lovely places to dine out. A bit pricey for us as well, but acceptable for being a French restaurant (generally speaking it's average priced, not too expensive and obviously not cheap). Simple atmosphere and decòr with tiny (oce again) tables that need to cram everything in (glasses, plates, water, cutlery), nothing extraordinary or fancy in that regard. Average...

This has recently changed ownership as of March 20 25 and is now called Gus bistro. Having overindulged in the heavy local cuisine at the bouchons, this was a welcome change of pace. I had shredded chicken breast in the lovely light butter sauce, accompanied with rice and ratatouille. It was light and delicious. I also chatted at length with the gentleman that was taking care of my service. We talked local and international politics, and he was very passionate. If you sit street side, you will also have a lovely vista of the hotel...

Je ne parlerai pas du service du midi, que je n’ai pas testé et qui est peut-être tout à fait différent. En revanche, pour le soir, mon expérience est beaucoup moins positive.

Très souvent, des amis des gérants (ou du moins des habitués proches) monopolisent la terrasse et se comportent comme s’ils en étaient les rois du monde. Cela se traduit par des comportements assez désagréables : • Interpellations répétées des passants, parfois avec des remarques misogynes, insultantes ou homophobes. • Un “karaoké improvisé” dans la rue, où l’on hurle plus qu’on ne chante, sans aucun respect pour les riverains ou les clients. • Un non-respect des horaires de fermeture, qui ajoute encore à l’impression de désordre.

Résultat : quand on passe devant, on n’a vraiment pas envie de s’installer, tant l’ambiance est gâchée par cette bande bruyante et arrogante.

Je sais d’avance que la réponse officielle des gérants sera probablement de nier, mais je ne peux que vous conseiller de rappeler à vos amis que leur place n’est pas d’intimider ou de déranger les autres clients. C’est dommage, car le lieu a du potentiel et pourrait être très agréable… si seulement l’ambiance était...
