I recently had the pleasure of dining at this exquisite bouchon restaurant, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was enveloped in the warm, inviting ambiance that epitomizes the charm of traditional French dining. The menu boasted an impressive array of classic bouchon dishes, each expertly crafted with the finest ingredients and an unmistakable flair for authenticity. Every bite was a delightful journey through the flavors of Lyon, transporting me to the heart of France with each mouthful. Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was impeccable as well. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring that every guest had a memorable experience. Overall, my evening at this bouchon restaurant was nothing short of magical. I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone seeking an authentic taste of French cuisine in a charming, welcoming setting. Five stars without a doubt!

I got the €33.50 set, and the food was pretty bad to be honest. It could be a bad day for the chef, or maybe their chicken dish just isn’t good. Starter: “Le caviar des Soyeux” (salad of green lentil salad with cervelas). This was great, honestly. Tasted very refreshing, the tomatoes and onion went really well with the lentils and terrine. Main: Creamy poultry supreme. This dish was one of the worst I’ve tasted in recent memory, I couldn’t finish it. The chicken was dry (overcooked), the cream sauce didn’t taste like much, the potatoes had a sour tinge (which could be intentional, but still didn’t taste good), and the eggplants tasted like nothing. I rarely can’t finish the food I ordered, but this was one of the occasions where the dish just tasted so bad altogether that I couldn’t finish it. I’m hoping this was a one-off mistake by the kitchen! Dessert: Home Made Creme Caramel. This is essentially an upside down crème brûlée, except the caramel sauce isn’t torched so it’s liquid and not crispy. Overall it tasted good — like what you’d expect from crème brûlée. But because they don’t torch the caramel, the whole dish was texturally less interesting and I got sick of the sweetness after a while. Honestly, I think the main dish gave me such a bad taste in the mouth that it affected my appetite for the dessert. Service was great, and the vibes and decor were great as well. Other folks seem to have better luck with the food here, so I think I was just unlucky that my dish was badly prepared that day.

I was very excited to try a bouchon when I came to Lyon and heard very good things about this Bouchon. Sadly, I wish I never came. To start, you're going to be paying a pretty penny to come here. Both fixed menu options are over 30 euros. The food itself varied greatly in quality - I got the famous Salade Lyonnais as an appetizer, which was delicious. The pork bits that it came with were delicious and the portion size was enormous. My entree was the quenelle, which was very disappointing. It tasted like something I got in a school lunch. Fortunately, my dessert was better - I got the tarte a la praline. It was very sweet and rich, but delicious. When it came to service, everything was fine until it came time to pay. I ordered three items on the more premium fixed menu, but was charged a la carte because I didn't specifically mention to them that I was getting food from the fixed menu. Do they have a point? Sure, but it's still questionable. Regardless, there are better bouchons in Lyon and I'd advise against coming here.

Although this review is four years late, I still wish to share my experience. The dining ambience is chaotic and very noisy, and the restaurant is usually fully booked, so reserving a table in advance is recommended. The food is acceptable, but the service could be more polite and accommodating to those who are paying for it. We ordered a few traditional dishes, and I had the misfortune to order their "fraise sausage" which they are currently selling. The English menu translated this dish as "tripe sausage" which I enjoy, and the waiter warned us that it was not "fraise" (which in French means strawberries), so I confirmed. Unfortunately, instead of tripe, the sausage was made up of pure pig intestines that had never been washed. The taste was so unpleasant, reminiscent of pig excrement, that even my Taiwanese wife could only eat one slice before we had to leave it.

This quickly became our favorite spot we dined at while in Lyon for a few days. At first they did not have space for us however the owner/manager came back to retrieve us as he squeezed us in with another couple and created a 'community' table. This is a wonderful spot for locals however it has become a huge tourist spot as well since it is classic homemade Lyonnaise cuisine. It is vegetarian/vegan friendly and serves great wine from the Rhone region and beer that pairs well with the food served. The salmon with mushroom risotto became my husband's favorite dish of our vacation and the homemade vegan lentil cream soup is now at the top of my list! Such a wonderful quaint spot. This establishment truly shows the spirit of Lyonnaise hospitality ♥️. Thank you to the staff for the wonderful service and great memory!
