This experience was an absolutely terrible disappointment. 6 of us had made a dinner reservation for New Year's Eve well in advance, making it very clear that one of us is a vegetarian. On their website their regular menu had vegetarian options and there was no mention, through email or on their site, that the dinner would be a set menu for 115 euros. The lack of communication was frustrating but nothing to get upset about. The menu did look appetizing however there was no vegetarian option mentioned. We asked the manager, referring our prior email and were expecting to hear options. They had no options ready. How does a restaurant regularly serving vegetarian dishes not have veg options?! After scrambling he came back with starter options and mentioned that the chef would throw together something for the 2 main courses and not to worry. Not what you want to hear when paying 115 euros but we were already there and we still had high expectations for the meal. This is where everything began to go downhill. firstly, I asked for cocktails in english and I was told they do not have cocktails tonight, only for our french friend to ask in french and be told the opposite. During starter service no vegetarian option was served, leaving our server scrambling again, clearly there was no communication on the back end and we were left waiting while they threw the veg plate together. The first main course was a risotto with scallops whereby they replaced the scallops with slices of truffle, which was all fine. However the second main, filet de mignon de veau and seared foie gras was substituted by the photo I have attached below. Unbelievable! boiled unseasoned vegetables and pan fried mushrooms. The one potato was part of the veal dish given by her partner. I do not even know how to describe this. The laziness, lack of pride and complete disregard for guest experience from the kitchen is shocking. Not to mention everyones veal being seriously overcooked and dry. Lastly the same raspberry sauce was used on the cheese plate and the dessert as well. There is no other way to put this but it felt like they just did not care. They did not care about guest experience, about food quality, about service. This was my second time visiting Lyon and I was genuinely excited to try a Bocuse experience with my friends. If anyone in control actually cares for his legacy his name should be taken off immediately. With so many wonderful restaurants in Lyon I would avoid Le Sud at all costs and at least for myself, I will also be avoiding the 8 other restaurants carrying his name and give my money to the many other great establishments that actually care.

In absolute contrast to a lot of famed restaurants of the Lyon scene that they do not deserve their fame, this place is exactly what it bears to be: A modern brasserie. We had lunch on a Sunday, when almost all Lyon restaurants are closed, and we were pleasantly surprised. Its location is fantastic and if you can reserve near the windows or if the weather is pleasant outside. The place is noisy and serves a lot of people but the staff is really professional and effective. We did not had any complaint despite the fact that the restaurant was full and we came last. The menu is based on tradition and season of the year and its denominator is mediterranean sea freshness plus light and healthy execution. The execution is good the taste is great and the portions are big as they should be in a real french brasserie. There are very interesting choices for wines by the glass priced really fair. (e.x.Paul Jaboulet Aine La Chapelle 12cl 13€) Best choice for Sunday lunch in Lyon

The worst dining experience I have ever had, if I could give zero stars I would. Avoid at all costs if you enjoy good food and service as this place is a complete disaster for your taste buds and an absolute assault on dining decorum.

A group of six of us booked this restaurant believing a restaurant with the eponymous Bocuse name would bring with it excellence in french gastronomy. How wrong we were!

First of all - having explicitly requested vegetarian options when booking the restaurant, we expected at least some preparation that (as requested) a vegetarian may be coming to dine that night! But no, the vegetarian options consisted of dry rocket salad, boiled unseasoned vegetables with mushrooms, another plate of dry salad and a plate of cheese with raspberry coulis. What a treat for €115 per person for food!

I wish I could say the non-vegetarian meals were any better. But sadly no, these were a range of bland dishes including an overcooked veal (mine was so overcooked I almost wished for some of their boiled unseasoned vegetables to wash it down), a risotto which was cold when arriving at the table and an abundance of raspberry coulis which the chef appeared to believe went with everything - including the cheese, dessert and salad.

That was just the food.

The service was worse. I have never been met with such unfriendly and unprofessional service. Not only did we almost get an entire cloak stand rammed into our table during service (this was almost funny at this point), but the rude staff and audible huffing and visible eye rolls when serving our table was ‘La cerise sur le gateau’ as they say in french!

I will not be returning and suggest if you want to spend €900 on a restaurant in Lyon (the bill still makes me shudder), spend it instead in the more authentic experiences available in Lyon!

Don’t be fooled by the name, there is nothing Bocuse about this restaurant other than the merchandise they advertise to buy at the beginning...
