Great and quaint "bouchon Lyonnais" (typical restaurant in Lyon) in the heart of the "old Lyon". Conveniently located not far from public transport (subway). The food is simply superb, if you are a meat lover (not for the faint hearted vegetarian!). All you need to do is order your main course and your cheese. The entrées are served "buffet style" however there is no need to get up, the waiters will pass bowls of salad, and other 'hors d'oeuvre" goodies from table to table, which create a great sense of conviviality, as you have no option but to engage with your immediate neighbours (tables are small and all touching each other). I had the saucisson chaud a la sauce Beaujolais which was absolutely divine! Don't forget to try also the "cervelle de canut" or "fromage blanc en faiselle a la creme" when it is time to eat the cheese, these are the typical bouchon lyonnais delicacies.. Same apply for desert, which is served as buffet style brought to you to the table once the dinning party next to you have been served! The place was packed and noisy, but this is the real deal. Our lady waitress was super funny and entertaining. Highly...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious! It was nothing short of a gastronomic revelation. The experience began with an array of seven different salads, 😍 each more intriguing than the last, which we shared and passed among the guests—a brilliant idea that added a communal touch to the meal. The flavors were incredible: simple yet wonderfully distinctive.
By the time the main course arrived, we were already bursting, but we couldn’t resist diving in. It was perfectly cooked and, once again, absolutely delicious.
Though we barely had room left for more, they insisted we try their traditional creamy cheese, 😍 which was an absolute delight. To top it all off, the desserts were served voluntarily, allowing us to indulge just a bit more—a perfect conclusion to this unforgettable culinary experience.
The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, adding warmth and charm to the entire experience. Their kindness made everything even more enjoyable!
Highly recommend to visit...
Read moreQuantity over quality. I don't see the point of having so much food that is tasteless. If you want to try real Lyonnaise food don't go there or you'll be disappointed. If you want to fill your belly up to sickness then go. Starters and desserts are bought from wholesalers, same as the school cantine. We were 11 at the table and none of us liked our main course : sauce too salty that you don't taste the "saucisson", chicken so overcooked it was like eating plastic, not talking about the tablier de sapeur... the least worse was the gratin dauphinois and the bread. Should I mention the service that was awful ? Is it supposed to be the style of the house to have a waiter looking like a dog and slamming the food when serving it ? What a disappointment for the "Chabert" house. For sure I won't go back even if...
