Au Bout du Quai is a must visit that truly encapsulates the essence of French cuisine. From the moment you step foot into this charming restaurant, you are greeted with warmth and hospitality.
The food here is nothing short of exceptional. Every dish is crafted with precision and care, resulting in a symphony of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. The Cod with gnocchi stole the show, with its perfectly cooked fish complemented by the delicate texture of the gnocchi. This is a must-try for anyone looking for a culinary adventure.
Of course, no visit to Au Bout du Quai would be complete without indulging in their Bouillabaisse de poisson du jour. This traditional French dish is executed flawlessly, with each spoonful transporting you to the shores of Marseille. The saffron-infused potatoes, rouille, and croutons perfectly complement the rich flavors of the broth, making every bite a true delight.
Aside from the exquisite cuisine, the service at Au Bout du Quai is impeccable. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that our dining experience is nothing short of perfect. We came here with 3 kids and they were very attentive.
And let's not forget about the view. Situated at the edge of the quay, Au Bout du Quai offers breathtaking vistas of Marseille's picturesque harbor. The cheery ambiance adds an extra layer of charm to an already unforgettable dining experience.
Whether you're a local looking for a special night out or a visitor eager to explore Marseille's culinary scene, Au Bout du Quai is a must-visit destination. With its delectable cuisine, attentive service, and stunning views, it's no wonder that this restaurant comes highly recommended. I wish I could dine here again. Definitely worth another visit next time i am...
Read moreWe stepped in here for lunch. we were a party of seven including my 87 and 81 year old parents. I approached the hostess with my 87 year old father and asked where is the toilette for him. In reply she asked if I looked at the menu. When I replied I didn't yet, she gave me one. I asked if my father can go to the toilet while I look at the menu and she said it is only for clients and I am not yet seated. I said the menu was fine for us. She then pointed out that each of us had to order a main dish, or two starters. I stated that my parents might want to eat less, but the rest of us will order mains. The hostess insisted they'd have to order as stated, and refused my dad the toilette.
The place and food looked nice. The attitude made us loose our appetite. I wouldn't want to be her old father... nor her client.
A quick update following the below reply: I always prefer businesses that simply apologise or regret the bad experience. My description is precise. The restaurant was not full, neither inside nor outside. We moved no tables and you didn't rearrange anything. No clients wondered about our behaviour as we were polite and rather shocked. My father nicely held his bladder until we found a nicer place for lunch, 200 meters away. (No kisses, I am afaraid).
Read moreHighly recommended. Lovely French restaurant by the old port. I dined here with some friends (group of 6) on a Thursday night. We did not have a reservation, but the staff was able to accommodate us. The place is very nice and elegant. There is also a nice terrace, for those who prefer to eat outside. Staff was very friendly and the waitress that looked after our table was happy to give us some meal recommendations (she could speak Italian, which made the conversation much easier). The cod was delicious and very fresh. It was served with home made gnocchi and a lovely aubergine sauce. I also tried their revised (and simpler) version of the local “bouillabaisse” which in this case was prepared with red mullet. It was lovely, but I personally did not love the taste of cloves in it. Tap water and bread were served to us for free. Definitely a great place to taste some nice French food, within the...
