After a nice walk along the beach (and before hitting the shopping streets) we came to have lunch here in one of the backstreets. Found this place online and made a reservation a few days before. A smart move, since the place was booked out!
The place is well organised and the staff/owners here welcoming and friendly. We really felt at home here. Our Bulldog was welcome as well.
For starters we've chosen the seafood appetizers and the stuffed mushroom. Both excellent. The seafood had lots of flavours, might put off some folks not being used to fish and seafood. Ourselves we loved it. The mushroom was fantastic, very creative and tasty.
For the mains we've had the moules marinieres and the Steak Tartare Italian style. Mussels were perfectly fresh and tasty. The Tartare was a great surprise with classic italian ingredients - a nice twist on the classic french Tartare. Great fries with as well. With the meal we had a bottle of the White Bordeaux (Domaine de Grava) which was on the sweeter side. Was perfect for both starters, less so for the mains. But a great discovery, surely a wine we will buy again.

Nous avons pris des moules — à la crème et marinière. À noter qu’une moule était visiblement avariée : goût très fort, presque putride, mais je pense que cela vient d’un défaut à la source, pas de la cuisine. Pour le reste, les moules étaient mangeables mais trop cuites, devenues presque bouillies. Ce qui m’a le plus surpris (et frustré), c’est l’absence totale de goût dans la sauce. Une crème coupée à l’eau, sans saveur — incompréhensible, franchement.
Nous avions très envie de moules, et ce manque de goût a vraiment été une déception.
Même constat pour l’entrée de saumon. Je m’attendais à quelque chose de dressé sur des toasts, mais on nous a simplement servi du pain à côté, posé en vrac. Difficile de faire de belles tartines, et certaines parties du saumon étaient un peu sèches, dures.
En revanche, petit point positif : le cocktail était bon.
