We have heard many wonderful things about Perard. My parents travel over for the weekend every year and always eat at this restaurant, always boasting how amazing the seafood is. So, as a birthday treat we surprised my parents with a trip over from London to LeTouquet with 2 other family members for my mum’s birthday. A lovely treat to eat at the famous Perard and an overnight stay. However.... sadly the experience was nothing other than disappointing. The 6 of us sat down to eat on Sunday evening. We ordered wine to the table. It wasn’t until a good 15 minutes later that we were told only 4 options were available from the entire menu and the rest of the menu was unavailable from the weekends trade. This was disappointing, especially as we hadn’t been told on arrival, but it wasn’t to spoil our evening. The seafood platter (4 of 6 starters ordered) arrived and we waited for the other 2 starters, which we requested again 10 minutes after the seafood arrived. They then went out to start making it! Only 1 of the 2 starters arrived 10 minutes later. So, seafood finished and one late starter now being eaten, our sixth starter was still nowhere to be seen and arrived another 10 minutes later. The restaurant was empty aside from our party of 6 and three other tables of couples. We were left to pour our own wine, we were not offered another bottle, we chased our drinks order 3 times and had to constantly call the waiter over or get up and walk to the bar to chase our orders. Dessert menus were brought to the table (on our request) and the waiter looked remarkably dissatisfied that we had asked for the crepe Suzette (most probably because it relied on him putting some effort into cooking it in front of us, which he did with a look of misery on his face). Time for the bill and I decided to pull him to one side to privately explain the situation and stress my dissatisfaction with the overall service and ask that is was reflected in the bill. He simply shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do. Considering we had travelled from the UK specifically for a birthday meal as a surprise for my mum, the whole experience was disappointing and a great shame and a little empathy would have...

For years, Restaurant Perard has been a highlight of any visit to Le Touquet, a place where excellent food and a superb wine list were met with a consistently high standard of service. It is with considerable disappointment, therefore, that a recent Friday evening visit completely upended this long-held perception.
The cuisine, as always, was very good, and the wine list remains a testament to the cellar's quality. However, the evening was soured by service that can only be described as profoundly unprofessional. Our waiter displayed an attitude that was not simply curt, but actively belligerent and dismissive. What began with the hope that his manner was merely overly formal quickly devolved into a series of interactions marked by surliness.
The lack of care was evident in multiple instances: brusque address, the necessity to repeat requests, and most glaringly, the unceremonious pouring of a ninety-euro bottle of wine without a perfunctory offer to sample it first. This was a clear message that we were not valued guests. The contrast with his pleasant engagement at other tables only exacerbated the sense that we were being treated as second-class patrons.
The nadir of the evening was his response to a legitimate complaint. When it was politely pointed out that my "filleted" sole still contained a significant number of bones, the response was a disinterested shrug of the shoulders and a perfunctory "oh well." This reaction demonstrated a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and professional decorum.
While the manager was informed of the situation upon our departure, this experience regrettably casts a long shadow over a restaurant I once held in high regard. It is my sincere hope that this isolated incident is not indicative of a new standard at Perard. Until I can be assured otherwise, however, it is with regret that I will not be returning in the...
Read moreThis has to be one of my favourite restaurants in Le Touquet – so much so that we visited four times in the space of two days! This place truly has it all, from the relaxed bar seating to two distinctly different dining spaces, not to mention the mouth-watering fishmonger.
Our first stop was for a light lunch at the bar. I opted for the crevette croquettes paired with a glass of Chablis, while my wife and our friend enjoyed a plate of large, juicy fresh prawns.
We returned that evening for dinner, having reserved a table in the more contemporary rear dining room. Once again, the food was incredibly fresh and utterly delicious. I started with the tuna tartare, followed by skate wing with capers and samphire. My wife had the same starter, followed by a prawn salad.
Dessert was a real highlight. We indulged in a selection, including the Crêpe Suzette, which was flambéed at the table with Grand Marnier – a perfect finish.
The next day, we popped back to the fishmonger for our evening meal, picking up more prawns, crab rémoulade, and smoked salmon. We couldn’t resist one final visit, returning for a pre-dinner plate of some of the best oysters I’ve ever had, alongside a glass of Sancerre. An absolute treat!
This really is one of the best restaurants in Le Touquet – a must-visit on every level when you're...
