I can't say enough good things about L'Agave. I think they embody exactly why it's said that the French have the best food. Every morsel and bite of each dish is something worth savoring. I only did the 3 courses but perhaps next time I would opt for the tasting menu to really try out everything. What I had though was quite exceptional in itself. From the amuse-bouche, to the starter, the main, dessert and after, I thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Props to the chef for creating such great balances of flavors and textures, even with twists like adding insects to the dish such as they would do in Mexico or using jalapeños for some spice, or adding freshness with fruits like mango flavors or pears/apples. My favorite dish was definitely the dessert and I'd go back just for it! The textures and the flavors they managed to encompass in that dish was absolutely amazing. I could have that for days.
On top of that the staff were excellent and so very kind. It did get a bit busy at the height of the dinner service but they dishes were spaced out evenly and brought out in great time. They accommodated me as a non-French speaking person and introduced each dish very well.
I would definitely recommend to anyone to eat here, even with the limited menu because I think people need to experience this wonder! Hope to go back one day. The experience eating here makes me want to move to a France just so I can relive this...
Read moreWe visited Agave on May 8, and have to admit that part of the selection was that most other restaurants were closed for the holiday (which was also our wedding anniversary). However, having lived in the Sonoran desert near Mexico, we were intrigued with mixing classic French techniques with authentic Mexican ingredients. The entire dinner was innovative and rewarding, from the warm greetings from the staff to the unexpected fusion of flavors. I was accustomed to and welcomed the spiciness, but could see that it might be disconcerting to French people who had not acquired a taste for it yet. The amuse-bouche was stunning – one of my favorite bites in France. Note the restaurant is located on a closed-access cobble-stone street, which made access to the location difficult for a wheelchair (though the restaurant itself was fully accessible). I wish we could go back and...
Read moreI visited this lovely restaurant a couple of months ago and I still feel compelled to leave a positive review. I cannot remember the last time I was so immensely blown away by a culinary experience. The food is either French cuisine with a Mexican twist, or Mexican cuisine with a French twist depending on what you order. So whatever you choose, it will be unique to anything you’ll have ever tasted before, on top of it being beautifully presented and, of course, absolutely delicious. This place is a culinary delight! Please go and try it.
If anyone is worried about it being possibly too spicy due to the ‘Mexican twist’, most options seemed to be either no-spice or low-spice. My spice-averse friend was equally impressed...
