Parting is such sweet sorrow . . . After 5 amazing days in Nice, FR our visit was wrapping up & Bistrot de l’Opéra was our last stop. We couldn't have ended it at a better place. We sat for a couple of hours, just people watching along the Promenade & snacking on the charcuterie board, tearing into the delicious (which is standard in FR) baguettes, sipping wines & café & just enjoying each other's company. We traveled to FR with 2 other couples from home, Chicago, IL. One couple we met in Paris & together took the TGV (high-speed train) to Nice & the other couple met us in Nice. It was such a perfect getaway, especially with the on-going craziness of Covid. (This trip was originally planned for 2020, but like most people, we saw our plans evaporate due to the pandemic.) I sincerely appreciate all that the French people have been doing to get travel back on track & opening their borders to those that are from other countries. Please stay safe ~ wherever you are or wherever you go.

We got the most horrendous waitress we could have had. The place was almost empty and despite that she was beyond slow to even give us the menu. She then brought the food and despite the fact we told her we were sharing she didn't bring extra plates. When I asked her for one she said they didn't have any more as they were washing them. What a ridiculous answer is that from a restaurant in such a busy city as Nice. After bringing the food she never offered more drinks or even asked.how the food was. We were planning to have desserts and coffee but we decided to take our business somewhere else after such a disappointing service. The worst is I complained to the manager and he did nothing. He said it was hard to get good servers but that was it. She confronted me when paying and continued with attitude. Obviously these people don't appreciate businesses from tourists if they allow such a horrible person to be their server Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Not worth it.

Warning: Ask how long the service will take before ordering anything. To be honest, the restaurant is nice, the food is very good and the portions are generous. However, the staff lack training and professionalism to work a busy restaurant like this. The night we ate here, the table next to us waited 90 minutes for orders of burger and fried calamari. We waited more than an hour for a pizza (which was only ok) and gnocchi (which was excellent). My pizza came first and almost 5 minutes later, the gnocchi arrived. It is completely unacceptable for an order to be split like this, especially in a French restaurant. This is a cardinal sin in the food industry and speaks deeply to the lack of professionalism on all levels. There was no explanation or offer to help with the wait. When asked about the delay, we were told there was a problem in the kitchen. But no one knew what the problem was or if it had been resolved.

Well, where do i start, came here for lunch and just had an awful experience. Firstly, my girlfriend had to send back her food because it wasn’t what she asked for,(she asked for a toasted sandwich with chicken and cheese, and she got a sandwich with chicken cheese ham and a fried egg on top)We send it back however 30 seconds later he comes back just without the eggh, ham still on the sandwich and she strictly doesn’t eat pork. The food was so bad we didn’t even bother sending it back for a second time, assuming we were going to get some sort of discount at the very least. I never met a waiter before with such a terrible attitude, he was trying to convince us that it was our fault, and you can guess, there was no refund whatsoever. We didn’t catch his name, but he had black hair and a black beard. Throughout the service, the other waiters and waitress were just in a group in the corner of the restaurant talking and didn’t seem to be any help to anyone in the restaurant. For context, i actually never left a review on a restaurant before, but after i walked out if this place, i was so disgusted with the food, the mistakes and most of all, the waiter. I wouldn’t come back here if it was the last...
