l'Uzine — Restaurant in Nice

We made this reso a while in advance after seeing the nice Instagram and social media they had.

Seems they were more obsessed over that than the food or service of the restaurant. While waiting for a server to take our order we saw them filming Instagram content at the bar and chatting with each other.

Once we did order they brought still instead of the requested sparking water. No big deal though. We waited even longer for our wine, it arrived after our entrée. We ordered the half cooked tuna (not sure what I expected) and the pork shoulder ravioli. The Tuna was absolutely horrible. Tasteless and under salted, served with mashed potatoes and a gravy. It was lukewarm warm fish with potatoes basically for €32.

After our entire meal we waited another 25 mins after asking for the bill to pay. Eventually we got up to just leave and pay as it was never brought over. We could notice the 2 tables beside us also having the same slow service and bad experience and the one table also got up to leave after waiting too long to pay.

We had a lovely dinner at l'Uzine where we got to try some really good food. The main dishes were amazing, we had the octopus with the sweet potato purée and the veal with mushrooms and fries, both of which were succulent and tasty. The wine was good as well, we tried a Bordeaux and a Chardonnay that accompanied well the dishes. However, the desert did not live up to the expectation of the main dish as it was not right for the price offered - we were expecting something amazing for that price as many similar restaurants were able to keep the same standard for the main dish and desert. We tried the l'île flotante and the délice glacé, none of which I could say I strongly recommend as the first one was a bit too sweet but it was a nice mix of crispy and creamy and the second one was just some yoghurt ice cream, berries and cream. In general it’s oki, the food is above the average level, the address is great (see picture).

The bad experience I had are listed below: First arrived than the clients around us, but served in the last, we waited for more than 25 minutes before being served. We asked for one table available nearby the window, but refused. Instead, the clients just followed us had taken it. We haven’t got any explanation for that. The glass is broken but still serves on table ( see picture) I don’t know what happened to us, but the young blond man served us was with full of anger from the beginning. The tables are too close to one another, the two guys nearby us were talking loudly, making me headache.

In short, the food is ok while the service needs to be improving as much as possible. Good luck to...
