Maison F Restaurant — Restaurant in Nice

We came here on a Sunday for my wife's 50th birthday, I did the reservation more than two weeks in advance.

Pretty much NONE of the dinner options from their website were available, ONLY option for a fish was a salmon, so we were wondering why they even had fish knives layed at every table and were discussing to go somewhere else. The waitress then convinced my wife that the only very nice fish they were able to get on the market was reserved for the Bouillabaisse. Since she loves Bouillabaisse that's what she ordered, for 70 Euros.

All she got was a HUGE pot of the same soup I got as a starter for 22.- and the ONLY Fish in there was - you guessed it - some pieces of the famous "local" and fresh "Mediterranean salmon". It was enough fish for ONE plate and probably a liter of plain soup. One person, 70 Euros.

We feel lied to and completely ripped off. They have ruined an important evening that no one can ever bring back. Shame.

We visited this charming restaurant after a long hike, excited to try their food. The patio was packed, but we were content to sit inside. Unfortunately, service was slow, and the server seemed overwhelmed. After quite a wait, we ordered, only to be told there was no fish, which should have been noted on the menu given their focus on seafood.

We all opted for the Burrata salad, but after another delay, the server informed us it was unavailable. Just as we were about to leave, someone from the kitchen said they could make it after all.

When the food arrived, it was a bit underwhelming. What was presented as a Burrata salad turned out to be a ball of mozzarella on sliced tomatoes with diced mixed vegetables—not quite what we expected and certainly lacking the olives and chard. While the dish had potential, it didn’t live up to the anticipation.

We left disappointed. It was my wife’s birthday and I thought I was taking her to a special restaurant. However, a very limited menu written in a whiteboard, far less choice than shown on the web site. When ordering it appears that only one piece of salmon is left so either for two starters or for one main course. Staff was friendly but got invoice wrong, items were correct but price per item was wrong, overcharged by 32€, quickly corrected after questioning but this should not happen. Food was totally excellent, super fresh and delicious. But other than freshness nothing too special, price-quality is really not great. Ambience lacking, only one other table and decor nothing special. For the prices charged there are plenty better...
