Néron Glacier — Restaurant in Nice

FORGET FENOCCHIO! YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!!!!! This little spot in a small square was my highlight in Nice and I truly did enjoy Nice! Over the 3 days we were in Nice, we came here 3 times. The gelato here is out of this world. When we visited they were focusing on vanillas and had four different vanilla beans from all over the world so it was so interesting to try each one. The fruit flavours are all made with 75% fruit which just makes them pop with flavour. My wife and I have been to countless places for gelato and this is definitely one of our favourites.

On top of that, the people were all so welcoming, kind, and generous! Everyone was so great with our 1yo daughter as well. We had the sweetest server who took the time to describe everything and when we went back the second and third time she was there too and was just as helpful and then some. The owners also took lots of time to chat with us, try other flavours, and told us about their story! The pastry chef here studied under one of France’s most famous chefs. I ordered a cake called Schwarzwald torte or in French it’s called Fruit de la foret noir. I asked the lady if she knows what is becouse it was my birthday and preferred not to have any surprises! Well I had a really bad one! I got a cake a day before and put it inside my fridge. The next day when I cut the cake I called Neron and asked if this is a joke! If you google the cake must have a cake! A chocolate cake, cherry filling and cream! I got cake without a cake just some weird cream covered with some weird chocolate gel and few cherries inside! The lady was not nice on the phone so I wrote an email. The owner claimed she made it before in the Ritz Hotel and Fauchon at Paris and for the famous chef Pierre Gagnaire. Sorry but this was not a cake! There was no cake! I will add this creature was not cheap at all. At the end of the email I got a recommendation to go to another pastry shop for my next birthday. I have no idea how the owner can be so rude. I have never get my money back and none of my friend nor me was able...

Total rip-off!! Run away! I came here last year and only got one scoop, but they gave me the amount of two scoops. Then in Italy, I realized ice cream is measured by cups, so I assumed it would be the same in Nice.

This time, they promised four flavors, so I assumed it would be by cup again. Nope—new owner this year (didn’t see him last year) measures by spoon!! Four scoops ended up being barely more than last year’s portion, and it cost €11. The guy just pushes his ice cream cart outside, no wonder all the other ice cream places are crowded while his is almost empty.

The flavors are fewer than last year, and even when you take the ice cream out, no one seems interested. Honestly, the more I eat, the more annoyed I get. The guy running it can go spend his money on medicine for all I care!
